Ok so I signed up to Strava, joined Pistonheads club and uploaded a few rides. How do I get my rides to show up on Pistonheads' club page?

Giving my gammy leg a rest for next two days hopefully be able to set some new records on Saturday.

Doing this with a couple of mates if anyone fancies, stopping to watch a bit of the club hillclimb then potter back - http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course...
Looks like a fairly hilly route, is it? If it's not too bad (I haven't done many long rides recently), I could be interested!

Joined the pistonheads club too
Just playing with the site and looks like it could be fun but I don't think there will be many segments in this forgotten corner of Essex.

Create a few then! Once you have made them it will even go back and find the times of anyone who has ridden them before they were created smile

Did my first proper chain gang style training ride tonight - thought it would be interesting to show the difference between that and normal riding - http://app.strava.com/activities/1940077#31800102

Did a lot of the last 8 miles with two others as we got dropped, caught back up, then got dropped again biggrin But all in all finished about a minute after the main lot.

Got to get me on a proper chain gang/club run soon as would love to see how much easier it makes with the aero advantage of being able to draft, though did manage a 22.3 mph commute the other day which I was super chuffed with!

I really like this thing. The app makes it so easy to log your rides, it's far better than using my garmin. Pretty boring posts on the Pistonheads club as it's just my daily commute plus whatever else I can fit in. One thing this has shown me though is that the altitude records aren't relaible - it can vary wildly from ride to ride on exactly the same route.

Its not very accurate for anything in the country on the iphone. I think the best way to do it is record on a garmin and upload from there, far more accurate I think.

Top tip thanks. I'll resurrect the garmin and start using that again. All depends on if I can find the bloody USB stick though!

That's what most people do I think, fking around with an iphone then putting it in your back pocket is annoying, and it has a mind of its own in limited signal areas (i.e. surrey hills).

Do you mean network or GPS signal? I've found the phone to be pretty good even on long rides through isolated/hilly areas. Last big one took in cheddar gorge which didn't phase it despite being buried in my backpack. Agree it is a faff stopping and starting it though.

I mean it just isn't accurate, it has tracked me going through woods on my road bike etc. Its a bit un predictable, I was relying on it to tell me what my time up box hill was, and it had me as going through some woods, at one minute going at 4 mph then next at 26... So I'd prefer a garmin for accurate stuff. Unless you are in the town like i was last night in which case its bang on.

BUMP!

Starting using Strava last week and totally love it!

I thought it would be very similiar to Garmin Connect but I personally like it better as the interface is much better.

Got to say the whole competitive rankings is a winner, really does want to make you get back out there and get a better time.

I've also joined the PH club.

If anyone's considering going 'pro' then do a Google for strava discount codes - I saved $10 on annual membership.
