I think apart from the first few months I've never cared where I stand on any segment against anyone apart from Richmond Park maybe. That whole side of it is a gimmicky in and captures people for a while, then they either use it for what it is, a good logging tool with mapping, and a social element, or stop using it.

Lots of the Surrey ones are from Olympic event/London classic thing. But there are a few half decent pro's who train in Surrey. There were a few segments where I managed to just about go quicker than the London/Surrey classic peloton on my TT bike, but few and far between!

His looks to be the outlier though. Very short segment, what is it, 300m? Not really possible to ascribe much to the numbers in 30 or 40 seconds.

Discounting power meter wobbles, I doubt he weighs the 120 kg (or whatever) it would need get a figure like that, but I suppose he could easily have spun lightly up the first 50-100m then mashed it to the end to get a very high average.
Ian is pretty tiny, certainly around 70kg.

Dangerous move.

Now you’re only the fastest of people that pay vs everyone (that uses Strava). Takes the shine off a KOM IMO. I’ve paid for years, maybe since 2011 but the above is my thought.

It is the price of a coffee.

I've used it probably every day for the last ten years, many I know use it almost daily, I'm sure they'll pay up.

It’ll mostly be useless if based on a peloton bike though. As said on the other thread they’re not reliable for that sort of thing. All of that confirmed when I saw Peirs Morgan had apparently done 385w for 40 minutes rofl

It seems like if anything the Peloton bikes UNDER estimates power by 10%, so actually 385w on a Peloton is probably close to 400w in real life.......So someone is talking BS, and I doubt its the inanimate object!

I would bet my life on the fact that it’s wrong. Which means how many others are wrong which means why bother paying attention to such numbers.

Inanimate objects they may be but power readings being accurate is something many brands have spent years perfecting. Unsurprisingly these toys are not it. And beyond that who even knows if they’re consistently wrong or it fluctuates. Nearly dying doing 198w would suggest yours is fked too.

ETA - they don’t even have strain gauges, it’s all estimate. So with that in mind it’s all total garbage.

Another question...

If someone completes a ride that I like the look of is there anyway to copy it & ride it - either on the app or the website - oh and i'm now premium so have those features too!

The rider hans't however saved it to their routes as I know that's an option to 'ride the route'
Yes.

Click on his ride. Go down to the map of his ride, top right 'create route' - this ports it as is into routes, if you want to make edits you can, or just hit save, then it will appear in your routes for you to do whatever you do. In my case, star it, then it syncs with garmin connect and appears on my garmin by magic.

What metrics do you want?

I've just installed the Sauce plug in for Strava on Chrome, quite like it.

Garmin does a lot with the power, and provides insight into different training areas (training effects) as well as adjusts power and HR zones based on ride performance. I can also see 1/5/10/20min max average power and a couple of other bits like that.
You can do most of that with Strava, and adding Sauce will give you all the stats you know from Connect (NP/TSS etc).
