It seems we are in the minority on this forum, but there has got to be a few of us?

What do you ride?
where do you ride it?

etc

as is traditional, I'll go first.

I have been riding a 2006 demo 8 for the last few years, but have recently got a 2009 commencal supreme to trundle around on.

as im from south east Kent there arent many hills, so i mostly do trail riding around here, but for DH i ride at aston hill, PORC, hindhead, used to ride at rogate a lot (this place still going?) rotherfield etc.

ive also been to the alps 3 times, whistler once, UKBP once and wales many times

how about you?

Yeh Im into proper mens biking. Downhill/Freeride I have a Scott Voltage Fr so more Freeride than Downhill. I have been riding at Woburn Sands a lot, but planning to go to PORC, Aston Hill and Cannock Chase. Going up to fort william for the worlds and a few days riding.

South Wales local here, moved here 6 years ago from Guildford and love it. Best trails I've ever had access to. Regularly ride Cwmcarn, Mountain ash, gethin, loads of trails about here. Ride a Mongoose BDS with a custom build..

Wharncliffe local here. Started with a Trek Session 8 which I then part exchanged for a Specialized SX Trail, slowly losing interest in the sport though so hopefully can rekindle it this summer smile

never ridden the mega, but i have heard lots about it, and a lot of my friends have done it. One chap i know ruined himself good and proper during the mega. had to be airlifted off the mountain with a smashed leg.

I'm an ex-dh'er or 'between DH bikes' depending on what day you ask me.

I've had a Norco A-Line - lot better than the bargain basement price tag and a Custom Build Cove Shocker.

I live in Cardiff, rode Cwmcarn countless times, Wentwood, a few other of the lessor known tracks, the Alps a couple of times, Whistler once.

We're all about the trail riding this year, so it's trail centres and Passports in June. I'll probably do an uplift day or two on my Spicy, but it's not the same...

We should have a new Bike Park next year in Gethin and it'll be Whistler again next year so I'll be building a 'park bike' up as/when I spot stuff too-good-to-miss, probably a lighter 7" I'm thinking a '07 or '08 SX Trail at the moment, with Totems or 66's, longer travel than my Spicy and coil sprung.

I've never been to Forrest of Dean, but I'm told it great fun for an uplift day if anyone fancies it.

Got into DH through enjoying the meatier bits of XC trail centres.

Currently using a Nicolai Helius AM (160mm travel) bike for all but singletrack work - so XC and DH.
Mostly ride at Stile Cop on Cannock Chase, but have done some Alpine DH trails/parks.

I mostly do trail/XC but am gradually attempting to get in more downhill after a couple of trips to Morzine. I've also done a couple of uplift days at Innerleithen which were real good fun (The Matador run is incredible).

Managing to do it all on a Lapierre Spicy at the moment, can't really justify anything bigger.

We are definetly in the minority here, i think my bike was the only DH bike in the readers rides bit!

I ride at Wharnecliffe, Hamsterly, Cannock and im racing at innerleithen in a couple of weeks which i cant wait for!!

Also booked to go to Morzine at the end of July

I ride a Orange 224, the pic below is from when i bought it, ive done a few bits to it since namely, hope v2 brakes, powdercoated the boxxers white, full custom sticker kit from Slik Graphics, Cane creek Double Barrel Shock, wide and low race face bars.

Its a fantastic bike but may be tempted to upgrade to a giant glory if one came along for the right price

I would be a D/H-er if I could! Being based in the Thames Valley (and having a family) means that I have to make do with XC, or Swinley Forest/Surrey Hills or the occasional day trip to a trail centre - taking a complete weekend out to play on my bikes is a difficult at best! Buying a d/h bike is difficult to justify for a once/twice a year outing.

That said when I get the chance I will have a go, I have a Blue Pig hard-tail, slack angles make it better at going down than up - if I need a bit more comfort I have a Trance. I have managed a couple of outings last year, the most fun was probably the black runs in the Forest of Dean - I know they are nothing in comparison with the Alps but put a smile on my face (as well as a few whoops apocalypse moments). . . . .

I ride DH. Used to ride a lot more, but i'm spending more & more time riding trail than DH these days.

Still racing, but a lot more picky about what i'll do now. Some nationals, a few south Wales races & some of the Pearce rounds. Planning on racing a few of the Gravity Enduro rounds as well.

Sadly as I enjoy riding my bike too much riding DH isn't a particulary effective use of time, even with an uplift.

Off to the Alps again this summer, doing the Mega again & aiming to qualify in the top 10 of my heat (did top 20 last year - so need a target this year), then off to Morzine for a week after.

Ride an Iron Horse Sunday for DH, and my everything else bike is a Nomad Carbon.

Still haven't seen you round Swinley yet Lee,mind i haven't been there too much the past couple of months really. Married with 3 kids myself but still can occasionally get away if i'm good!

I used to race DH "back in the day" and got back into biking after a long lay off about 3 years ago and we now have a large group that in the last year or so have done. Glentress,Innerleithen,Cwmcarn,Forest of Dean,UK bike park,PORC,Rogate and Aston Hill,Woburn,Chicksands etc.

I ride a Santa Cruz Bullit which is built up strong enough to take my cack handed efforts to get down a DH run at my age!! DH courses are a LOT tougher now than they were in the mid '90s thats for sure!

Aston Hill is a regular and just discovered Rogate 2 weeks ago and what a gem that is now,. Superb place and not far from home really!

Can't wait to get to the new Revolution bike park in North Wales soon because that looks superb form what i have seen.

Giant Glory DH rider here:

TBH I don't ride that much DH. Had messed about on the Innerleithen DH tracks on my Reign occasionally, then rode the Fort William DH tracks a couple of times in 2009/2010. Got a bit more involved in 2011 with a few weekends volunteer bike patrolling at Fort William, but was seriously abusing my Lapierre Spicy. Rather than destroy it completely I bought the above Glory In August 2011: no point continuing to attempt it on an inappropriate bike. Managed one weekend at Fort William before the track closed for the season and loved it.

Over the winter I've made a few changes to the above: new brakes/rotors, rebuilt rear hub, different cassette, and had the rear shock off to TF Tuned. All good to go and looking forward to more DHing this year smile

Mandog has an Orange 224 and Pipe has a Lapierre 910 (i think that's the right numbering).
