15,727km was my total for the first year.

As random things at the side of the road go, it doesn't get any more random than a couple of kids with a stuffed leopard cat being used as a cuddly toy. When I first saw it I had to do a double take to see if it was alive or not.

And today I had to have my cleats cut off my boots by a guy in the street with an angle grinder because the allen key bolts had fused to the cleats. One of the hazards of doing so much walking I suppose.

Blimey - that's probably more than I've done in my whole life.

Fab - I dremeled my last set off - same reason (a consequence of doing most of my riding with my kids).

Yesterday I arrived in Phnom Penh looking like I'd just finished the Mille Miglia! Cambodia definitely needs to lay a bit more tarmac than there is now.

I'm now up to 17,500km since leaving home 13 months ago.

With a fake tan like that, you'd fit right in at Aintree.

Yeah but it needs updating. It still shows I'm in China.

Now updated: http://g.co/maps/vjj5d

Annoyingly, because of the number of waypoints it's now on two pages.

Amazing trip so far...I've been watching with interest on Twitter and here.

A quick question...on the map why is there a big gap in China?

Over the last two days I've met up with UNICEF Cambodia and the British Ambassador to Cambodia to help gain a bit of extra publicity for my blog via their Facebook pages which have a combined audience of just under 60,000 fans.

And after two weeks of sitting around in Phnom Penh twiddling my thumbs, drinking lots of beer and getting fat I've finally got my 60 day visa for Thailand so I'm back on my bike today heading for Siem Reap so I can see Angkor Wat before crossing the Thai border in early May.

I've made it as far as Kuala Lumpur now. The Petronas Twin Towers are one of my favourite sights of the trip so far. Gorgeous.

It's great reading.

I just wonder what he's going to do when he gets home. It would be such a downer to come back after such a long adventure to the same old same old. Now there's a nice cheery thought.
