First time on the bike/commuting since September. The 12 miles in hurt and someone seems to have dumped a great big hill right at the end. I'm sure it used to be just a gentle slope last year.
I've wasted a third of the year but at least I've started on the road to getting my fitness back.

Sunny morning yesterday, so I went in in shirtsleeves & didn't bother with a jacket, so inevitably, it rained on the way home & I got soaked.

Got backsaw night to find this:

On a couple of places on the rear and also the tyre de-laminating on the front.

Think I'll be off the bike until I can fit some new tyres...

Not too sure, did have to stop sharply a few times yesterday but didn't lock up, was also going for it a bit. The tyres are 2 years/8k miles old though!

Most annoying thing is that I only collected it from a service on Tuesday!

Having nearly crashed the car last night, and then realising this morning that I'd left my helmet in Cheltenham, I took it very gently this morning. It was actually very nice to have a potter in rather than race around too much... perhaps I'm getting old.

Haven't you learned by now? Headwinds are personal, they don't affect other objects. That's why they have to hide when you stop at traffic lights, so that nobody else notices them.

Sopping wet commute, but there I am, making good progress, thinking I'll be in earlier than usual.. Flat, smooth bit of road.. BANG! Front tube rapidly deflates.. Ah the joys of replacing a tube in the pissing rain.

I used the CX bike today and to my surprise was nearly as fast as the road bike was yesterday!

Also, every morning I pass a safety burger type van in a lay-by selling bacon sandwiches. I don't know how much longer I can resist the aroma for!

Sadly I am in Morocco all next week so this is my last commute for a while.

What a complete fking disaster

Was looking forward to the ride in, gears seemed a bit odd but fine

3 miles in hit the climb out the village, out the saddle 10% climb and crash rear mech jammed into wheel, chain jammed I being clipped in went down like a sack of spuds. Thankfully I threw myself into the verge, I then fell down the ditch still clipped into the bike!! Bike was at top top ditch , I was hanging down it not being able to move on the edge of a busy B road! Managed to get my feet out then checked the bike over. Rear mech is bent , rear wheel is buckled, as the frame is steel the mech hanger is part of the frame is is very bent.

I then had a 3 mile walk home to get the car!! Bit pissed off with myself as I had enough warning signs the gears were a bit fked, going to cost me a fair bit to put right as well, was worried the frame could be written off and it is only 6 months old, but the LBS say it should be fine

Kind of lucky that I didnt fall into the road, as I could have easily been brown bread as cars pass very closely there, guess it reminds me how important giving cyclists a bit of space is!

Misses even gave me sympathy as she has never seen so many stinging nettles on someone before, she was more worried about that than anything else!!
