Yes, but going from 23mm wide to 28mm wide has to add a bit of drag, doesn't it?
The wheels spin nicely and I don't think they're rubbing on anything - I'll have another check this evening. I've got them at 90psi for now, I'll give them another 20 tomorrow and see what difference that makes.
On paper, with the same pressures, the rolling resistance should be identical. The wheels spin nicely and I don't think they're rubbing on anything - I'll have another check this evening. I've got them at 90psi for now, I'll give them another 20 tomorrow and see what difference that makes.
With the lower pressures you should run in them, still not much - the benefits of the better tyres and the better handling of a road network seemingly resurfaced by carpet bombing should more than make up for it IMHO
Might be psychological?
Ironically I find 25s faster than 23s, however run force / attack on my nice bike. They are fast as hell on smooth tarmac but don't like the rough stuff or the wet.

Putney to EC4. Have tried Wandsworth, left, big roundabout, Vauxhall, but whilst it's quicker, I'm not a huge fan of the roads. Haven't tried turning left and over Battersea Bridge though so might try that.
I don't like south of the river, its pretty grim, and there are loads of trucks as almost the entire length of south bank from Wandsworth to Waterloo is a building site. That said, there are cut throughs by Wandsworth which mean you can actually avoid all of the one way system, if you go down by the river.
Well, I've done a PB into work today. I'm pretty sure it was due to lack of traffic (summer hols are just awesome!) and very little wind. Well one that wasn't a head wind anyway
6 miles - finally break 18 minutes with 17:58.5 Avg spd 20 mph (I know, but I understand mph)

Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes (hateful things - but the Mrs acquired a huge box F.O.C. so I feel obliged to eat them).
Single Speed commute for the first time in a couple of months.
Quick chat with a lovely blond lady with a sexy voice, who was cycling towing her dog (and a massive box of corn flakes) in a trailer along the Putney-Hammersmith Thames Path.
Banana when I got to work.

After years of commuting very regularly (ranging from 14 - 20 miles each way), today I'm cycling home for the first time since starting at PistonHeads(not including last week's trial run to find the best route).
My plan is to drive to work with my bike in the car and then leave the car here and cycle home a couple of times a week. Phase 2 is to then start cycling back in the next morning (instead of getting the train). Phase 3 is to start cycling in and home on the same day... might take a while to build up to doing that with any sort of regularity though!
Still, looks like I picked the right day for it!

Massive fail this morning on commute, after commuter racing down Bermondsey High Street, pull up @ Tower Bridge lights thinking I know the sync'ing so can coast in & track stand long enough... and I can't. Fall to the right (which is my staying in foot) and ended up sprawled all over the jucntion still attached to my bike. 2 broken cages and bruises to show for being a wally (and never servicing my Speedplays).
Your waiting patiently in the cycle bit at the lights and you can guarantee some nervous women cycles just in front of you with the front basket full, rucksack on and then proceeds to wobble away in front of as she struggles to get going so you have to overtake her again and then again at the next lights either that or some cretin on his fancy road bike struggling away trying to get his clips in order. Is this normal etiquette or do I need to position myself more aggressively say slightly beyond the cycle bit?

Yep. Happens all the time. Would you rather these people cycle, and gradually learn to improve, or drive (badly)?

Position yourself at the middle to right hand side of the advanced cycle bit so the wobblers will stay left.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
