New magic tip. Cycle with headphones in! never been given more room in my life!
Tapped out a decent pace on the way in in a solo effort, dispatching the occasional attempt at wheelsucking without drama.
Way home was marred by daft people. Bloke riding right in the middle of the cycle path on a narrow section, someone tries to overtake him as he is also passing a pedestrian. Bit of elbow to elbow action and a few harsh words exchanged between the cyclists.
Middle of the path bloke then passes two pedestrians walking side by side and yells at them that its a cyclepath not a footpath. Sigh....

Yep. Happens all the time.
Would you rather these people cycle, and gradually learn to improve, or drive (badly)?
You have a good point sir. Although I would say these people have annoyed me slightly more than those vehicles who choose to block cycle lanes down the left. Would you rather these people cycle, and gradually learn to improve, or drive (badly)?

I always wear headphones (budfits, awesome... They hold your earphones far enough out that you can hear the traffic and your music!) but the best way to get yourself plenty of room is a Moonshield 60 on the slow flash setting. Even in bright sunlight people always give me more room when it's switched on Tapped out a decent pace on the way in in a solo effort, dispatching the occasional attempt at wheelsucking without drama.

Third cycle commute of the week today and second on the single speed. I managed to get up at 545am, have a sausage sarnie and blast the commute in 56 mins. Still 2 1/2 mins off a PB bit not too bad seeing as I had seven weeks off. Traffic lights at Colliers Wood and Putney didn't help.
Rest days tomorrow and Saturday then hopefully a 70km ride with Bike Beans Cafe in Ashtead.

4th day of the week for me = sore legs. Looks like I'm going to come up just shy of 1000 miles for the month too (unless I can be arsed to do a 40 mile loop on the way home tongiht)
ETA nice Genesis Volare in naked 953 steel in the office car park today.

Nice pleasant ride in this morning; 9.8 miles 44 minutes of pedalling only stopping for junctions. Managed to hit 36mph going down the one big hill on the route - thank fk for disk brakes Getting up said hill on the way back is not ammusing; I will make it all the way up it without stopping on the less hilly bit in the middle one week.
Bowl of granola and a coffee (usual breakfast) before I set off.

Rest day today.
Turns out there's a sort of bus that goes all the way into London and runs in little tunnels. Who knew? But it's £10 return, hot, full of chavs and takes ten minutes longer than the bike. Seems popular though.
Felt weird getting up and putting clothes on rather than Lycra

This morning, I undertook my first ever ride from my house to work.
It's only a twelve mile commute, but I'm still only a few months after a pretty major knee reconstruction, so nowhere near what anyone would call 'peak fitness'.
It was also hilly as fook route and the entire time was spent cycling into a headwind - I'm pleased with myself.

Tailwind home then. Good work It's only a twelve mile commute, but I'm still only a few months after a pretty major knee reconstruction, so nowhere near what anyone would call 'peak fitness'.
