got a 1 mile and half down the road and realised i forgot a couple of things so had to turn round and go back. so my 12.6 mile commute turned into a 15.6 mile commute. still made it to work on time though. smile

Blueberry shredded wheat type things for breakfast and a post ride shake.

The wind is swirly and horrible at the moment. Last night combined with a touch of the hunger knock meant the ride home was no fun at all. frown

Nice and wet this morning. The choice of the CX bike was a good one.

Still added an extra 9miles to the route biggrin

Steve

PS the tailwind home last night meant I averaged 21mph along with a 2 KOMs and a raft of PRs biggrinbiggrin!

Epic headwind home last night. Still managed to average 12mph (my best is around 13 - hills are mental) but was walking pace up some of the more exposed long uphills. And I nearly got killed by a tt in an E39 535i who thought doing 90 in a 30 limit past me without moving over was acceptable. I really have to get a camera.

Sounds like a close call .... not fun.

Clocked my 100th mile for the week cycling in this morning. Had nothing in my legs last night and limped home. Better this morning, though it is my neck that hurts the most.

Anyway, have tonight and tomorrow off the bike and will try to ride Friday. Beautiful this morning, still a bit windy though.

Good news chaps. I've spent an hour this evening putting mudguards back on the commuter bike. So that should be the last of the rain for the summer. No need to thank me.
LOL thought about putting my winter guards on this weekend, which would Guarantee good weather till crimbo

Had a bit of a rage moment this morning. A guy in a Renult Laguna typical exec type made an extremely dangerousover take where I had to swerve out of the way to avoid being clipped, he stopped at the next set of lights and got a massive ear bashing. His arguement was that I dont pay road tax. rolleyes Needless to say that didnt go down well with me, stating that neither did he. The lights changed and he sped off, I was close to dragging him out the car! Pricks like that make me rage so much! furious

Last night while I was heading down the road that passes the back of Earls Court station a pair of Tyskie swilling scumbags threw a football at the cyclist in front of me. He dodged it and I nearly hit a car swerving to avoid it.

I hope they get cockcancer.

Yesterday I had a dozy bint in a 10 year old Punto pass me and then immediately turn left into a side road causing me to brake and stop.

In hindsight, I should have gone into her.

Can we start a list to make the driving test harder and require renewal.

Steve

PS. Managed a 10th place up a hill this morning biggrin

Came into the London office for a rare visit, so figured I'd try out a boris bike. Not sure if I picked a duffer but was an interesting experience. I think knowing where I was going may have made the ride a tad easier.. but at least you can navigate by skyscrapers! smile

There are a few tricks to picking a good 'un - main things to check (tyre pressures, how well the wheels are rolling and the brake lever function) which can be done before you undock.

Turns out that a couple of hours bike maintenance over the weekend has resulted in a much more pleasant journey in this morning. It's amazing the difference that having brakes that actually stop you, gears that change when you ask them to and, crucially, correctly inflated tyres makes rolleyes
Shaved 5 minutes of my modest journey in this morning biggrin

It is so easy to overlook tyre pressures. They can seem firm to the touch, but get a gauge on them and suddenly I'm down from 110psi to 40.
