Baselayer

yikes
I always wear a base layer irrespective of the weather.
I refuse to wear one in August on general principle.

Expect a post from me tomorrow moaning that I was bloody freezing biggrin
It was 10oC at 645 this morning. brrrr.
I reckon it was colder when i left short sleeved at 04.00 , but i'm a double hard fella,

I got to the end of the road & thought maybe i was a little ambitious going near commando,

Shaved 3 seconds off of my PB to work so it was worth it but it was bloody chilly.

It is so easy to overlook tyre pressures. They can seem firm to the touch, but get a gauge on them and suddenly I'm down from 110psi to 40.
Indeed. It wasn't as much help against the evil headwind on the home leg though frown

I can confirm that a wasp stuck in one's helmet ends badly. And a lot more painfully than you remember as a child cry

My second ever bike commute route this morning felt both shorter & flatter than my first go at it, but Strava seems to think it's 0.6 miles longer and 200ft of climbing higher! confused

Time for some porridge and almonds smile

EDIT: suburban Glasgow was apparently 8c at 7:30 this morning... I don't normally wear socks, but I'll be going to find a sporty pair to wear after today - my toes were freezing!

I can see how that would not be fun.

Bone dry roads, a lovely cooling breeze on my back and light traffic, none of which tried to kill me...
Best ride to work in weeks. Arrived at work with a beaming smile. smile
Doubtless the ride home will be purgatory to make up for it. grumpy

Long sleeve base layer with normal cycling top over for me. Pretty chilly when I set off, but it warmed up ok, and central London normally a degre or two warmer than suburbs anyway.

Still plenty of utter tards that attempt to pull away in their biggest gear which means they sway from left to right to get it moving. Not ideal at a busy junction.

Women are more susceptible to the cold than men to the tune of something like 4 degrees on average. Whilst this might be perceived as a bit of a pain when you have to put extra layers on before blokes do, at least you can put extra layers on when it gets colder.

If you're a bloke, on the other hand, then when it gets hotter, you're screwed sooner, as not only are we more susceptible to the heat, it's apparently less socially acceptable for men to cycle in mankinis than it is for women to do so in bikinis. irked

In other words, if you're feeling a little chilly on a morning like this morning, just be thankful! smile

Just normal bibs and summer jersey for me last night - spent an hour tootling around the Velopark road circuit with t'wife. Beautiful sunset from the top of the hill looking out over Tottenham too.

Pretty impressed with it as a facility - track surface is utterly wonderful, so smooth and very grippy. Slightly lacking in anything you could call a hill, but after a few laps the rolling up and down starts to give you a good workout anyway. The staff appeared generally disinterested in actually helping people which is a concern, but the hire bikes (for the wife) are pretty nice - Condor branded with Campag Veloce, Fixik Ardea saddles. Big free lockers too.

Only downside is I had to tube it home after, as the battery pack from my cheapo lights didn't hold a charge from the night before. Anyone know any decent suppliers of replacement 18650 battery packs? (Or is it cheaper just to buy another light...?)

First day back after doing something to my knee on Sunday. Felt alright at the time (30 miler with a few hills, nothing drastic) but could barely walk by dinner time. So I've given it a couple of days off.

Consequently, took it very easy on the way to work and not only did I get overtaken, I got overtaken by a flat-bar fixie rider.

I have decided that knees are over-rated and will be cycling home at a more respectable clip.
