peanut butter on sorreen -blimey too much for morning stomach!!

First time ever (at current job) I have managed 5 days in a row comuting!! Normally have to drive every Thursday not this week

Finding it easier every day, bar the steep hill at the start which my legs slowed on , but I found I was quicker on the flat bits

Managed to get a 19mph average home last night, was quite happy as it was on a mountain bike that I got off ebay for 90 quid over a bumpy commute

Finding the colder weather easier as well, plus the roads are dead due to summer holidays, dreading the start of term

<checks weather>

'9c and dry tomorrow, excellent. I shall ride in to work!'

<checks estimated wind>

'Ahh, ballocks, 12-20mph...!'

<checks wind direction>

Easterly.

There ended up being no wind at all on my 13-miles this morning. Very pleasant ride in.

Took my PB down under 50 minutes too. Not lightning fast by any standards, but I'm pleased with my 15mph average.

I'm not looking forward to an increase in the number of people trying to kill me, but I am looking forward to flying past all the stationary cars. I actually find it more difficult to motivate myself in the summer as I can drive to work quicker than I can cycle, plus I can vaguely enjoy the drive with the roads so quiet.

Very windy on the way in this morning and had a left hooker try to take me out - always a lovely experience.

Had a great ride in this morning, with the pissing rain it meant my off road commute was void of early morning walkers and other casual cyclists. I didn't have to stop for anyone.

And tonight’s ride back should be good too, assuming it continues to rain. The worse the weather the better my commute is!

First outing for the Gabba too, and it worked a treat at keeping me warm.

Lunch time's ride will be wearing my newly delivered Belkin kit, simply because it's not sopping wet!

Bran flakes.

Slow ride in - over 30 mins for the 8.5 miles to the station. Wet and windy too.

Misery compounded by arriving at the station, standing dumbly outside the train for 30 seconds, with its doors locked, before it proceeded to leave around 1 minute early (according to the station clock).

Can only get better. First of 3 days on the bike for the week.

Woke up @ 7am shattered , looked outside, thought fck that!!!

Extra 45 in bed!!

Then drove and kind of wish I cycled as the rain would have made it a nice challenge

Had 3 days off cycling, which is unheard of!! Managed 5 in a row commutes last week though

Got nice and wet this morning. I need a better front mudguard - but no mounts on my forks for a "proper" one...

Overtook a "scene" E30 touring that pulled out in front of me, then dithered at 15mph down the road. I guess his stretched tyres weren't inspiring confidence on the waterlogged roads...

I got absolutely soaked on my Box hill climb this morning , loved it tbh

Has anyone done Leith hill ? a fella at work says this is a stiffer challenge. I'm off all week & i'm thinking i'll give it a go.

Box Hill is one of the easiest 4-5 minute climbs in Surrey, if not the easiest.

If you want harder try, Leith HIll via Coldharbour Lane or via Leith Hill road round the back, White Down Lane, Tanhurst Lane, Barhatch Lane, Ranmore Common round the back way, all of those are local and much more of a challenge than Box Hill.
