Yes but you have to walk the bike over. Which isn't ideal in cycling shoes.

Car today due to meetings later. Cycle related moment of the journey was a schoolboy coming the other way on his bike drifting across into my lane because he was busy riding no hands whilst texting and not looking where he was going.

I think it must be the day for people going back to/starting at Uni. South-West London was even stter than normal, and a bunch of people had abandoned their cars on Stamford street.

Gorgeous day for it though.

Glorious this morning cycling across London.

Slight nip in the air to start but still warm enough for summer gear.

Exciting commute as wheel buckled as I put the power down exiting a corner and seized solid in the frame . Managed to keep it upright and have created a wiggly wiggly skid mark on the road though.

Will be emailing and enquiring as to why this should happen on a 40 mile old wheel.

So the wheel itself collapsed? Or it moved in the drops? The former is very unusual.

The rim is bent and the wheel significantly warped.

That's awful. Straight back to the "builder".

yikes

At least it happened when it did and not on a descent or something.

Funny you should mention that - on Saturday I was doing what you did (photos thread) and doing some of Wednesdays Tour of Britain route. Did my lap of the Malverns up through the Wyche cutting and came down through Little Malvern and nudged 50 according to Strava. That would have been very exciting - and the thought has crossed my mind.

Thanks Winston.

The bike has to go back now. Which is disappointing as I was going to use it for a corporate do on Wednesday.

I expect you'll get your revenge in the morning, I only have summer gear and it's forecast 2 degrees on the fens in the morning yikes

Cycled into work today, and the idiot who tried to kill me was another cyclist.

Either Grandad or older Dad cycling along the pavement slowly with a kid in a rear seat. There is a row of parked cars on the nearside and I'm in a cycle lane with faster moving traffic passing me on my right.

Matey swerves off the pavement through a gap in the parked cars and into the cycle lane. I brake and very calmly inform him that he didn't do a lifesaver shoulder check before cutting me up.

Couldn't face riding my usual route in this morning, so took a slightly longer route. Made a big difference to how much I enjoyed the ride! Anyone else get bored of riding the same route every day?
I went a different route, and broke out the roadie for a bit of a change too. Nice ride in, and I got the kit choice right for the conditions too.

Branflakes with sultanas. Granola and yogurt at work.
