Had my first "crash" the other night on a short descent going home.
Going down the road and a car pulls out probably 2 car lengths, however as soon as it pulls out in front of me it faced a speed bump and (it was a new polo) proceeded to go over it incredibly slowly, I caught up within seconds and to stop me unclipping slowly followed behind.. Same thing going down the road until she finally speeds up to 30+ to then SLAM on her brakes nothing in front stopped just before hitting the car (metre or so) but having only started using cleats I fell on my arse (bruised my tailbone - to the point I'm having to get the train home today as it's too sore and scuffed my cleats, handlebars, breaks etc )... After doing this I picked myself up banged her window went round to front left of car with now a queue of cars behind beeping, to see a middle age women basically telling me she stopped as I was too close, I remained perfectly calm and advised her I was doing complete fine up until she stopped dead in the middle of the road..... I told her she would be on youtube later and to see if she still agreed.. She then says "on your way" and speeds off.... I take persuit adreniline going for a few minutes, keep up and she pulls in to a house not far up the road from my own.. I go past a little bit, calm down, get my camera out and go take photo of the car to show no damage, as at this point I was going to phone the police.. She came out asking what I was doing.. I told her... She then wanted pictures of my bike :S.... She then advises me it's not even her car as someone went in to the back of her last week!! Not at all surprised.
What a muppet!!!!
My back wheel also is now slightly wobbly, but that just might be down to pot holes.
Excuse my horrible use of the English language please!!
What would you have said to the Police if you had phoned them ?Going down the road and a car pulls out probably 2 car lengths, however as soon as it pulls out in front of me it faced a speed bump and (it was a new polo) proceeded to go over it incredibly slowly, I caught up within seconds and to stop me unclipping slowly followed behind.. Err if you had been in a car and gone into the back of somebody who would have been at fault?
Just because you were on a bicycle doesn't give you any divine right.
Did you do to the police. And did they laugh at you?
If she had stopped for a child or an obstacle I'd have taken the fall. I did leave enough room hence how I stopped long before hitting her. I fell due to my rage and not being used to being attached to the bike. . She slammed and skidded to a halt in a 30 mph zone on a completely clear open road....
To be fair to the guy that crashed, I have seen similiar quite often, through experience you learn to stay well away
Last Jan I had a car pull out in front of me then deliberately brake test me, as I thought they were going to accelerate away, I eased off instead of braking hard and got fairly close, I (wrongly) presumed that as they pulled out in front of me they were in a rush and so would pull away faster than walking pace, they didnt and just sat @ 10mph
I was in a crap mood at the time so on the second time they brake tested me I gave up on brakes and just used the car to stop me, as it was brand new car this didn't go down too well as the bumper was quite marked and dented in
It was stupid of me and now I just stay well away, as whatever the reasons behind it, a car vs a bike is only going to end one way!

If you were in a car then what "driving without due care and attention"?Look I'm sorry you had an accident but don't vent your anger and threaten youtube and the police when you are completely innocent....

She broke purely because" I was too close ". . 100% her fault.
Really? really? If it came to court she could claim that "something" caused her to brake. You were too close behind and fell off.
All I'm saying is that because you were too close you could not stop in the case of an emergency therefore you were too close. Why do you seek to blame somebody else?
Then fine. But as I said. The only reason she broke was because I was too close.. So she intentionally wanted to do me some form of harm. I was over 3 seconds behind her. Probably enough in a car! She was a loon as well. A nneighbour informs me the entire family are incredibly weird.. Doesn't help much!
I see no other reason skidding to a halt on a main road than to cause some incident.. Cash for crash against bikes, the new thing!....
Anyway, managed a mile going home before I got the train......
Hopefully get some miles in on sunday!
Any tips for keeping your legs fresh? Couple of easy cycles a week? Every other day?

You are tootling through Fulham, in your 911, when a new Polo pulls out ahead of you, and fails to get anywhere near 'normal' traffic speeds. This causes you to get closer to her than you would normally like to be. So you ease off to increase the gap, as any sensible driver would, whereupon she stands on the middle pedal, causing you to have to anchor up to avoid a collision. Only now your brand new Pirellis are flat spotted, and next weeks 'Ring trip is ruined.
You are...
a) Happy with that. It's entirely predictable and justified to have someone brake test you for no apparent reason.
b) Not too happy, but, hey ho! no one died, I'll get over it.
c) F**k me, that was close. I need new underpants. What the f**k was she up to?
d) You actually want to clasp your hands around her neck and watch the life drain out of her, the stupid cow. Next time she could cause a serious accident, FFS!

Actually a superb comparison! You are tootling through Fulham, in your 911, when a new Polo pulls out ahead of you, and fails to get anywhere near 'normal' traffic speeds. I had some moron deliberately try to run me off the road yesterday for no reason whilst commuting back from work, it's not like I antagonised them or anything. Ended up with a scratched wheel from it running against the kerb Any tips for keeping your legs fresh? Couple of easy cycles a week? Every other day?
Another reason why I won't go on public roads in this country without a bike or dash cam. Dunno if it's worth reporting to the police, probably will as if the same happened when I'm driving my car and it caused me to kerb an alloy then I definitely would.

As for keeping your legs fresh at this time of year it's worth getting a turbo trainer, was meant to go on a 50km ride out this afternoon but the weathers scuppered that.

Did you not thump heavily on their window as you went past? I've had similar in the past. Thump on the window frightened the st out of them, then they swung back so much my pedal left a huge scrape on the side of her car. Black Seat Leon it was.HereBeMonsters said:
