First commute from new house today. 22km, so 30% longer than previously, took 55 mins which is too much in the morning (heavy legs, new route caution, crappy road surfaces, lots of traffic).
Wore the new Aldi stuff. Roubaix leggings are totally windproof but a bit loose around the arse and way too warm for today. Jacket is perfectly cut for me but again, crazily warm. Hope it's a really bitterly cold winter or I'm not going to wear either of them much...

I also decided to go out on my newly purchased winter gear but about 10min into the ride I was baking. I too hope it gets colder!Wore the new Aldi stuff. Bought some waterproof socks from Aldi a few weeks ago for just over a tenner as a bit of a punt. Wore them this morning and they're brilliant. Feet were bone dry, warm and not even sweaty, much better than overshoes. Even putting them back on and into sopping wet shoes for the ride home was fine, still warm and dry. No idea how they would they'd stack up against proper overshoes on a long ride, but for commuting I think they're excellent.
I suppose summers finally gone as the rain and dead leaves are now forming lovely, brown, slippery mulch on the road, felt the rear tyre lose grip a few times on the way home.

My commute is around 12 miles, some along semi-rural A roads (A38) and the last 4 miles through the middle of Birmingham. Driving standards generally don't bother me on the first part, though in Birmingham it is a little hit and miss. My main peev is people in traffic jams inching over to the right as far as possible as for some reason it annoys them that a bike filtering down the middle of the road is making progress at zero expense to themselves.
Hey ho.
The driver of a Volvo estate came very close to having a bar end though his rear screen a few weeks ago by doing this, how I missed him I don't know. I had "braced for impact" and was quite surprized that I missed him. Hey ho.

The wind is currently blowing hard enough to vibrate the bottle of mouthwash in my bathroom, I may have to reconsider cycling this evening.
I want a KOM but I don't want to die in the process. It's quite a dilemma
I laughed at this....then went outside and got blown over in the car park...blimey its windy outside!!I want a KOM but I don't want to die in the process. It's quite a dilemma
