My commute is around 12 miles, some along semi-rural A roads (A38) and the last 4 miles through the middle of Birmingham. Driving standards generally don't bother me on the first part, though in Birmingham it is a little hit and miss. My main peev is people in traffic jams inching over to the right as far as possible as for some reason it annoys them that a bike filtering down the middle of the road is making progress at zero expense to themselves.

Hey ho.
The driver of a Volvo estate came very close to having a bar end though his rear screen a few weeks ago by doing this, how I missed him I don't know. I had "braced for impact" and was quite surprized that I missed him.

The wind is currently blowing hard enough to vibrate the bottle of mouthwash in my bathroom, I may have to reconsider cycling this evening.

I want a KOM but I don't want to die in the process. It's quite a dilemma scratchchin

Blimey bit of a taste of winter this week!

Tuesday rode in was cold @ 7 degrees (not that cold, but noticeable)

Wednesday rode and it was heavy rain

Today it is heavy wind!

Last week it was very calm, bright and warm!

Still not complaining been nice riding in

hehe And that's the problem. If the wind is on my tail down the A16 I'll KOM it for sure. If it's a side wind I'll get blown into the path of an artic and die irked

looking forward to the ride home as long as I miss the torrential rain, my route snakes about so much that I'm doomed whatever direction the wind blows!

Took the piss out of someone on one of the cycling Facebook pages, who said he kept getting pinholes in his tyres and wondered why. I posted "Pins", and got a few cheap laughs.

On the way home I got a nail in my tyre.

Karma's a bh!

When I worked in town (King's Lynn) the cycle lanes were a little overgrown and when I got a puncture I thought it was due to a thorn. Pulled over, took the wheel and tyre off, removed the tube, found the hole and fixed it. As I was running my fingers around the inside of the tyre looking for a the thorn a used hypodermic needle went through my skin. Six months of blood test and rubber'd up sex before I got the all clear. rolleyes

Yep. It's not just ignorant, inconsiderate or incompetent drivers that are out to kill you. Littler bugs to.

Take those stupid "ING-GER-LAND" flags that end up in grass verges and on the road side whenever England plays a soccer tournament for example.

I was messing about with some Lycraists a few years ago on my recumbent. Knights Hill on our way back from Hunstanton. Normally I'd use the Castle Rising cycle lane into North Wootton but I was marking time with the Lycra wearers and my rec' didn't fit through some of the style gates. Off the Knights Hill roundabout headed towards King's Lynn on the old A149 Lynn Road when one of those flags got caught in the turbulence from a truck, blew into the front wheel of one of the riders catapulting him into the path of a car coming the other way. Both legs crushed, multiple fractures and if he wasn't wearing a helmet he'd be dead.

So on a windy day like today keep them especially peeled guys and gals.

Looking forward to riding to work all day and just as I'm getting ready the rain stops and the wind drops. Typical.
