This. I don't mind the rain either, I just can't stand putting soggy clothes on at the end of the day.
I've just brought in a couple of old pairs of shorts and some old sport socks for just this reason. My locker room here does a pretty good job of drying most of it out but the recent rain has been too much. The 13th October 2014 will go down as the wettest day by far (over the last 4 years of cycling to work). Strong NE winds, torrential driving rain heading to work and again on the home trip - never had such weather for both trips and rain that's been as heavy for the whole duration of cycling. I was dry from the waist up, don't bother with waterproof trousers just my trusty 3 year old Altura ultra light jacket. Though at the end of my 30 min 9 mile home trip the zip had just started to let water through.
It was a bit of an experience.

Great ride in and out today, am going the slightly longer 6.5 mile route to burn more calories. Am currently sporting a flare 2 rear light on flash and an ion 2 on flash up front plus a couple of flashing aldi arm band reflectors on my rucksack. I think it's helping me get more space. Also got 5 pr's on Strava even carrying a 7kg rucksack. I am definitely getting stronger!

Anybody else completely lost their mojo lately? In the last 10 days I've done about 40 miles. Just can't be bothered!
I hear pouring rain in the morning at 6am and change my alarm to half an hour later so I can just drive in.Not had a dry morning during the week for the last 7 work days now!
I took a slighly longer route this morning as well, though because the hills aren't as severe on that route adding just over 1/2 mile made no difference to the time. The fastest route is 2 miles shorter but at this time of year its a suicide run.
The only problem with cycling today; despite the rain having stopped the roads are wet and dirty, my bike is blathered and in need of a wash, I think my rucksack will also need a wash

First time the actions of someone in a car have ended up with me sprawled accross the pavement. Stupid bint decided the exact moment I was cycling past would be a good time to fling her door open to get out. The car was stopped in the middle of the lane in traffic, no indication or pulling over to the kerb etc. No real damage to me or bike, hopefully by the sound of the crunch it made a fair bit of damage to the end of the door. Ffs.
Going to have a nice bruise on my hip. Paint chipped on the body of my brake lever, thankfully that took the brunt rather than my fingers. Nothing bent though. Glad I was on my MTB.

I've got to say, being doored is one of my biggest fear when cycling in, glad you're ok.
I'm starting to get frustrated with the weather, it's different every day. I switched to my winter gear this week and it's been fine - today it was positively tropical in Manchester and I was boiling by the time I got to the office.

Pretty much ok, my hip hurts a bit now tho, fashioned an ice pack from a carrier bag and some crushed ice. The lady was very apologetic, think it shocked her more than it did me, made quite a crunch as I hit the door. Just checked I still had all my lights and cycled off, didn't want to get into a debate or lose my temper. Just made a comment about checking mirrors before flinging the door open. My little sister is going in for heart surgery tomorrow so trying to keep calm about stuff at the mo.

Tried arm warmers and aldi fleecy waterproof trousers plus a muddy fox t shirt. Worked well but too hot in Manchester today. Back to shorts and t shirt and arm warmers tomorrow. Fitted mudguards again yesterday lunch which was a good job as it chucked it down on the way home. I don't mind riding in the rain when I have mudguards fitted, it stops your crack getting wet which is most unpleasant. I was soaked anyway so I did an extra loop round Beaulieu, and managed to get my shoes dry by the morning which was a result.
