Left hooked this morning as I left work after my night shift. Waiting at a set of lights on a two lane road, the right lane is for right turners and the left lane is for right and left turners. I'm in the left lane turning right. As the lights change a bloke comes through the lights in the right lane at speed and cuts straight in front of me and turns left, not sure how I missed him to be honest, it was that close.

The most disappointing thing was I was in my van and the other bloke was on his bike.

Cycled in this morning. Felt like pedaling through treacle and legs aching after only a few miles. Got into work and it looks like the bolt that holds the caliper on has loosened and the brakes don't seem to want to sit properly without adjustment.

.. and no tools at work! Doh(!) fun ride home ahead!

I can finally join this. I cycled to work this morning. Or to the station. It was faster than riding the motorbike (when you consider putting on/taking off kit). This evening I get the fun part, riding home up hill all the way. Two weeks of this and those hills won't seem so bad.

Warning I am about to go off on one

One single thing that makes you think knob???

Stupid, thick, doltish, selfish, lazy, ttish, fking s who DO NOT clear the condensation from their windows and lights before setting off in the morning.

As a driver when I see it I find it annoying but as a cyclist on country lanes and "A" roads I would have them all locked up for attempted murder because it is only a matter of time before SMIDSY. furious

Sorry mate I didn't see you because I'm too fking thick to know that I need to be able to see through windows. I wanted an extra five minutes in bed.
One guy who nearly hit me on a roundabout stopped at the next set of lights and I cleaned the passenger side windows with my glove for him. Next time I'll use the metal end of my pump.

I need some guards, urgently. I was the recipient of a puddle enema last night.
My Blog said:
To the left is a sample tub filled with tap water as a control, the middle is a sample of puddle water taken from a town centre and to the right is a mile from the centre of the same town. I made sure not to collect any mud or solids with these samples so the results are only what was in the puddle.

After a day the town centre sample has black bits that have sunk to the bottom and oily stuff floating on top.

The suburban sample is growing already.

This is just a day after the samples were taken. I was going to graduate it three and five miles from the town centre so you get more dead animals and stuff in there and leave the samples for a week but decided against it as I could potentially be in possession of a biological weapon after a couple of days.

Had our annual Club hill climb yesterday up Snap Hill in Wilts. Managed to win the first steep climb @ 20% , then second on the long second climb @ 3-10%. Loved the steep climb, hated the long grind second one.

No ride in today, misses and kids were winding me up about how my front teeth were brown, I thought it was down to non stop coffee, I then googled it and it could be a sign they are dead from trauma! A few weeks back my head /front chin took all the impact in a crash and I suddenly realised my front teeth could be ruined!

Managed to get a appointment with the dentist, thankfully the tooth isn't dead, but it is fractured with a crack running down it. Hopefully should be OK though ....

Eeeesh - well at least its not the worse outcome eh?

Ride home still a bit of a drag unfortunately.

Lovely autumn air though smile crisper than a bag of crisps.

Well, it's finally happened. After years of near misses on my way to and from work I finally got hit by a car yesterday.
Nothing too serious, I even managed to stay upright but being smacked with the wing mirror of a people carrier as it squeezed between me and the oncoming cars was more than a bit annoying, not to mention painful.
Unfortunately, I failed to see the registration plate through the red mist that descended as I gave chase, hoping to catch up with him at the upcoming roundabout.
Typically, the normally busy roundabout was empty and the git got clean away. Not sure what I would have done if I'd caught up with him, to be honest, but I wasn't exactly thinking clearly at the time!
I can see now why some cyclists resort to helmet cameras. That would have allowed me to play back the incident, get the number and report the tosser to the police. Think I'll put one on my Christmas list!

Raceblades are on, and although it's not raining yet, I think today is going to turn into the perfect day to test them. Bit blowy out there!

My bike is now a proper winter commuting weapon, with 28C Conti 4 Seasons, Raceblade XL guards, and my shiny new brakes. When I get round to giving it a clean, it'll probably look rather nice!

nearly got taken out on a roundabout this morning by a driver pulling out in front of me. luckily i purposefully cycle slowly round the roundabout to give myself as much time as possible to take evasive action and to ensure i am a slow moving object meaning i have a greater chance of being seen (although clearly not today!)

be careful out there...

Bottled it today - lashing with rain first thing, 25mph winds forecast for the end of the day. Got on tube.

Had another go at sorting the dragging disc last night after the cleaning didn't work. Found loose wheel bearing. Tightened it. No joy. Next stop is to see if I can adjust the alignment. Followed by trying to free up stick caliper. Followed by bleeding. Followed by LBS....

windy today - luckily going the way I wanted to go.

Which means it will be terrible going home tonight!

Almost got taken out by a mini that decided using indicators was beneath them, part of me wishes I had bounced over their canvas bit instead of skidding tyres on the road.

On my journey into C.London this morning thought I'd escaped the heavy rain but it hammered down from about the Balls Pond Rd so by the time I got to Broadgate I was nice and wet.

Hats off to the lady who was managing to peddle her dutch type bicycle in the wind and rain one handed whilst drinking a take away coffee in the other hand. You really couldn't make it up, surprised she didn't end up under a bus.

laugh Stick that on road.cc and they'll find a way to make that the bus driver's fault if she did end up under one wink
