I usually wear an UnderArmour baselayer top (and leggings) with either a winter jersey on top or a proper winter jacket as per this morning. Always find I'm got when I get to work but I blame it on the backpack. This morning was interesting with snow driving into my face most of the way. Had to stop once to properly wipe my eyes

The Cannondale CX bike (with Schwlbe Sammy slick tyres) continues to be excellent in all weathers on the tarmac and compacted gravel path. Shame so much sandy crap ends up on it each day. I think I may start giving it a 2 min spray off when I get home each day rather than just a thorough clean and lube at the weekend.

Jeez. Happy that I had to drive to one of the regional offices today (via the pool & 20 quick lengths).

I'm sitting in my office and it's blowing an absolute gale outside - do I accept defeat and get the train home or MTFU and get on the bike? Decisions, decesions.

I was going to do some hill repeats tonight but the thought of a takeaway an a few beers is strong....

Tail or headwind, yes. Sidewind towards the traffic, bale to ride another day smile

Ventured out and it was literally blowing in all directions all at the same time. At one point I'm sure I was going backwards. Thumbs up to all the motorists though, they all gave me plenty of room, I guess at times I was looking pretty wobbly when I got hit by some of the sidewinds.

Worst weeks commute in a long while....and no not the weather!

My first ever puncture on the commute so not ideal weather to have it in, street sweeper stepped in the road without looking (I said nothing as concentrating on not hitting them) and then spat on the ground at me as I cycled by (brain clicked in and yes I gave them a piece of my mind). Over the course of the week I would guess 3 or 4 other cyclists (Strava type brigade) came very close to hitting me as they cycled on the wrong side of the path trying to overtake slower cyclists. Finally I had another cyclist in front of me for no apparent reason slam on his brakes on a long straight and although I wasn't tailgating him we were both travelling at speed with no traffic and as there was no apaprent reason so I wasn't anticipating it I only just avoided him. Presumably he was testing his brakes but hey ho should have checked behind first, as he then proceeded to catch me up and race ahead.

New year, people with new resolutions and seemingly more @rseholes about than ever!

Ahhh, I feel better now after that rant :-)

Enjoyed the inward journey yesterday - crisp and still, no wind. Plus the bonus of newly-bled brakes.

The final mile on the way back was tough - long incline, rubbish stamina. Need another couple of weeks of regular commuting.

Interesting ride home last night, left the office @ 7pm then down 10 miles of pitch black lanes, came up as -3 in parts, everything was going brittle and white!

Was taking it easy because of the ice, then went to go for it in places and legs then lungs were complaining!

Then in the most baron part of the ride, 2 miles each way between villages middle of nowhere I see a cyclist coming the other way, I never see any at night, I then realised this guy was pushing. I stop and hearthe sound of cleats on tarmac, I ask if he's ok or if he needs anything, he shouts "Im good thanks" and off I go. Hope he hadn't had a mechanical because he was miles from anywhere in pitch black, maybe he was pushing up the slight hill?

Quite like the cold, at least you can prepare and wrap up and it makes the ride a challenge, rain and wind are annoying, cold can be quite pleasant.

Yeah, agree. Well, as long as there's no serious ice (see post about busted hip.....).

I'm in London and bar the first few hundred yard the roads don't ever get too bad.

Two cyclists stopped (its a Bristol city centre so busy).

Wrist by quite a bit, it is stabbing pains though when trying to do certain things rather than constant pain consistant with a broken wrist.

I once fell over playing 5 a side at school and cracked a bone in my wrist. Carried on all day and then did my paper round (on my bike).

Eventually went to A&E......

Bottled it yesterday, very cold overnight, followed by hail and sleet for breakfast, meant I didn't take the bike for the first time this year. Back on it today though.

Bike is in the menders, so I'm going to Boris bike for the first six miles and run the last four. Should be fun!

Could be any number of tiny little bones broken. Get it checked out. Mine still hurts 14 months on.
