ironically my solid cateye died this morning and my Chinese fleabay specials keep going, although the battery is dieing on one.
Cant complain on the Cateye, ive used it 24/7/365 for a couple of years
Slightly late start this morning, sun was out, so got out the summer bike and was down to one winter layer get in!!
Was a bloody revelation, instead of a 30lb MTB with heavy puncture proof 35cs I was on 18lbs of bike!! Roads were really quiet and wind was behind me, was hoping to see if I got any 2015 KOMS, or more importantly see how my times fared against myself last September when I used the bike last....Only I forgot to press start on Strava!
Pitch black lanes all the way home so will be trying to avoid the pot holes, whereas on the MTB its not a biggie if I hit them

Thought I would try out my brand new bike for the commute today as the weather was good. crossed my mind that it would be annoying if i damaged it somehow.. less than a minute from my place on a wide sweeping right hand bend taken at top speed i had that awful sight of the car parked up ten yards ahead of me start to pull out. no time to brake, i had to go around. it got worse when i realised she was trying to do a u turn! so as i was taking evasive action to go around her the car just kept on turning, closing the gap! the car forced me right over the other side of the road, i just managed to avoid it, but had there been anything coming the other way it would have been curtains. i was cycling in the middle of the road (no other traffic) so not sure how she didn't see me before pulling out. i caught a glimpse of her expressionless face, no idea that she could have caused a serious accident.
always ruins my 30 min commute when something like that happens

Today I racked up 2 full years of commuting without missing a single day
There have been days when the weather has caused me to seriously question my decisions, but on balance it's been pretty good. Saved myself NZ$2856 (around 1400 pounds) in bus fares, lost 20kg and saved countless hours standing around at bus stops. 7763km covered commuting out of 12300km total over the period.
Excellent!!! I however, lack your dedication and I wouldn't have come at all today if I'd had the choice, my feet are still frozen and I don't think I'd ever warm up.There have been days when the weather has caused me to seriously question my decisions, but on balance it's been pretty good. The tail/cross wind on the way home was very welcome.
It was still light almost all of the way home as it was in the morning and the potholed track en route has been repaired (well, sort of) so I'll be able to re-fit the slick tyres soon or use my road bike if I don't need to cart anything to work in the panniers.

Into week 8 of renewed commuting. Had a check up at work last week and my resting heart rate and blood pressure are nicely down. This morning my legs felt the strongest they've been in a long time.
Now need to keep it up, add proper running back into the mix and shift 10lbs.
Onwards and upwards.

I finally ended up buying a new bag as my old (must be nearly 20 years old - with repairs such as my stitching, use of plastic zip ties, metal hose clamps and a couple of goes of anti water stuff) has given up any chance of being waterproof.
Bought a new bag and got it cheap as the middle strap part is missing. Don't actually appear to need a new middle strap, but would like to know where to get one? I need a couple of female clips like this: http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/1-Duraflex-Ste... - anyone know who sells them in the UK?

Yesterday evening on my way into work I was nearly hit by an overtaking Audi on Lynn Road, Wisbech. Obviously that driver hasn't seen the Penis Experiment clip or has and needs one of those vacuum pump things.
Anyway I lift my right hand off my bars to give a hand gesture not part of the Highway Code when I am overtaken again by someone with blue lights on the roof.
Mr Audi is pulled over in the next lay by and the passenger of the Police car flags me down.
It would have been a conversation if he kept his gob shut.
On my way in to work...
...and on my way home this morning...
...I took a moment to appreciate calm before the storm.

Did he hit you sir?
Me said:
No, but it was bloody close though.

As he didn't hit you we'll give him a warning this time if that's okay with you?

Brilliant! Thank you officer.
A couple of hours later I found out via a colleague Mr Audi gave the Police attitude so they ended up giving him three points and a hundred Pound fine for SP50 as he was doing over sixty when they played back the video of the overtake. It would have been a conversation if he kept his gob shut.
