Me too. Without the critical mass of weekly physical activity I do not function correctly in my role as husband and father

Shorts. For the first time this year. Bit nippy but got into work and realised I'd forgotten my work shoes... Arse.

Yes. I am much nicer to be around and feel much happier with my regular does of exercise.

I've not experienced that yet!

Although I have a Garmin so even if Strava throws a wobble I can still upload it again.

This is true, however Strava is bloody good. Before I discovered it I used to record my commute times on a spreadsheet. It was very satisfying to see the my times improve and was a massive motivation when I first starting cycling.

I enjoy the ride but I do like to push myself. There's something very gratifying about taking a KOM when you're fifty hehe

I too use Strava and really like it. I can enjoy riding without it, though.

I do still record information about my rides, runs, gym etc. on a spreadsheet, albeit not all of my times (I'm generally not flogging myself all of the way from a-to-b).

Mornings are still a bit chilly.

Am I expecting too much from the time of year? Bored and impatient after a winter of riding. Evenings are nicer now, though. Will be even better once the clocks go forwards.

Arse.
First commute on "new" bike and this happened:

I'd like to think it was my awesome power but I can't work out what has caused it. Felt very strange, just climbing the last and steepest part of the hill up to my house and it just went. I was planning to swap it for a smaller, more rigid type of chainset anyway...

Rode into work last week twice (36 mile round trip, 2400 ft of climbing).

Here is this morning's view, Old Pool Bank. Nice Yorkshire scenery, but not nice first thing in the morning!

I was made redundant in September and yesterday was my first commute by bike since then. It felt good to be out cycling again.

I am now using a folding bike to go from Euston to Bank and back again every day. Its no where near the miles I used to do, but at least I'm getting some exercise. Also use it to cycle to the station.

I'd like to say I'm using a Brompton, but they are just so expensive, so I've gone for a Tern, which doesn't fold up as small, but it does have 20in wheels, so I recon its more stable than a Brompton.

I'm only on day two and I've established that the gears on my tern need indexing and I may need a new chain. The hazards of buying a used bike!

Did you need to turn around and ride back when you had slowed down?

I was on the road bike this morning. So much less effort than the old cross bike on 35mm tyres -less resistant to dark potholes though

Personal best time in this morning on a rare still Shropshire day.

Absolutely stunning ride home, sun setting behind me, slight mist and not a breath of wind, country lanes alive with animals n birds, tacked on an extra 10 miles, lovely!
