Had a new one today. I was half a mile from home overtaking a row of stationary cars when some fella flung his door open so he could gob on the road. Nearly collected me.

Still, could have been worse I suppose. If he'd just gobbed out of the window I'd have god a faceful.

First ride in for a month, after a long holiday in Oz with no riding. Felt fresh and knackered all at the same time. Also nearly managed to bin it in the first mile, when a van stopped suddenly - I stuck the bike on its nose and somehow stopped in time. Amazing how quickly you forget how alert you need to be! I was a bit more cautious after that...
You missed out, some great riding here.

That said I did similar to you the other day, only without the word 'nearly'.
The time I really missed my bike was Wilson's Prom. Now that would be hard work going up, but a LOT of fun on the way down.

Summer* must be starting in Manchester - the new bikers (some of whom may last until September, most seem to give up in a few weeks) have started appearing.

  • summer in Manchester means "not raining all the time but looks like it will"

After 10 days off with a clonky knee I spotted all kinds of new cyclists doing the commute this morning, good luck to them, just remember I was here first wink

We've all been there. Just front it out (literally) and see if anyone dares to comment...

Yep. Spent a day sat in my full length winter bibs once. I stayed behind my desk most of that day.

Are you actually my colleague Matt? Because he's just wandered past in a pair of boardshorts looking sheepish... (how you manage to remember boardshorts and not trousers is beyond me, but it must be the day for it!)

hehe I've only ever once forgotten boxers before in over 3 years of commuting by bike which isn't a bad record. Day 2 of commuting to my new job (week 2) laugh Random, similarly sized, colleague offered me a pair which was very kind of him so I'm currently wearing some slightly baggy trousers - could have been worse tongue out

Yep. I once forget my trousers and sat in bike shorts, shirt and tie all day. I had a meeting with a visitor though.

had to drop the car in for service at HR owen so chucked the bike in the boot and cycled into work, nice 14km along the canal was lovely in the morning.

way home some uber tt in a E class tries to run me off the road at Traf Sq, gave him both barrels and so did a few other cyclists but he just sat there giving us the finger. total tt but what can you do when hes in 2 tonnes and your on a ribble.

then realise i left my keys in my flat and was locked out.

Absolutely beautiful morning today. Managed to leave home early to get 22 miles in instead of my more usual 11. I could have gone on and on.

Special K.

Yep, gorgeous day today, made up for the fact that it was bloody hailing for the first half of my ride home yesterday!

It's my own fault. I took my mudguards off, so I brought it upon myself.

I have an old GT Outpost MTB that I have a set of slicks that I use for my piddly 3.5mile commute. However, I had some treaded tyres so I put those on over the winter and decided to take a scenic 6 mile route home yesterday.

It was awful. A fully figid mountain bike, with a horrendouly long stem, tiny cassete and narrow bars is a world away from a modern bike off the beaten track. I only have a Carrera Kraken and Boardman FS Team, but i'm thanking the powers that be for progression!
