CS, I had knee pain years ago, I think riding through winter in shorts didn't help but I found:
I mashed the gears too hard, spin a lower gear
Ensure the bike fits and saddle isn't too low or too high
look up knee stretches
Complete pita knee pain as it can linger for months
I had thought of these to be honest, but as I've been riding for about 20 months and have not had any knee issues until the last 4 weeks I've put it down to a mix of age, circuit training and many years of being overweight (much, much lighter now).I mashed the gears too hard, spin a lower gear
Ensure the bike fits and saddle isn't too low or too high
look up knee stretches

I'm off to the docs next week and then I'll pay for a scan to see if it's going to be something that needs an operation or if I can get away with a bit of rest.
A superb ride home. Steaming along I was -by my standards.
Curses on the standing traffic at the toll bridge, traffic lights and the lorry that pulled out and caused me stop at a roundabout, dropping my average speed!
warm, sunny and only light wind (westerly on an overall south-North ride.

In to work in chilly but lovely sunshine. I needed to stretch my legs out after climbing 32000ft in 3 days over a long weekend in the Alps! I completed the Strava climbing challenge over the weekend . The local hills still hurt but not quite on the same scale as the Col de Madone!!
Oh, and just water today as I need to shift some weight.

For the second day in a row, I caught up with someone (who Strava informs me is called Colin) who is much faster than me, and tried to hang on. It didn't go as well last night - legs weren't feeling very strong for some reason.
Mcdonalds breakfast wrap. I feel suitably ashamed. In my defence, it's a rest day.

I rode in today, which is the second time this week - Very little wind, lovely sunshine and my first ride at over 18mph average speed over 21km.. Looking forward to the ride home tonight already
Most excellent! However you are mixing your units...Jus' sayin. I have been a wimp this morning. Can't be bothered to push on through aching legs/back today. Will pick up again tomorrow as I know I have 4 days off the bike coming up.
Was looking forward to last night as had the best bike, but felt groggy on ride home, beautiful sunshine but my inhalers give me this nasty dry mouth when it gets warm, couldn't believe how miserable I was!! Managed to get a 20mph without trying too hard which is nice as stopped a few times as well
Back on the MTB this morning, fancied going the gravel way to make the most of the weather, just halfway there one of my EggBeaters decided to jam and self destruct!!! Meant I did the next few miles with only one pedal!! Managed to be a bit usauable by the end! Gonna be a fun 10 miles home! Although to be fair since last October I have been telling myself I need to rebuild/replace them due to the grinding noise coming from it!!!

Rode home on the MTB last night with a chap from work who was on his carbon Trek road bike.
On the long climb, he let me sit in front of him, and I kept an eye on his shadow to see when he tried to get me.
When I got to the last bit of the climb I realised it was under trees, so I had to go for it. When I turned round at the top, I realised I had utterly broken him. I was beaming all the way home.

51 kms last night and loved every minute. Quite a bit on climbing of new roads for me. Legs felt good, warm but not too hot, lots of sun. I stopped for an isotonic half of Doombar near the end (would've had a pint but only had £2 on me).
Just a couple of spin sessions for me now before Sunday's sportive.
