hehe It's bizarre, isn't it! I'll rant with the best of them when I'm flashing like a christmas tree and wearing fluro but the number of numptys in dark clothing with no lights is astonishing!
The best ones I've seen are couple of times now at night, no lights and headphones in. Yes headphones.

Admitted coming back from Sainsbury's I hit the deck after wet leaves and maybe a touch of the grass are not a good mix. So stupid of me... I haven't crashed in ages and was more annoyed with crashing and nearly damaging my favourite 'going out' shorts.

After a good few days on the mountain bike, the road bike felt like a rocket-ship this morning.

Also, scared looking numpties with no lights or helmet are worse than confident numpties with headphones and no lights. (It's all relative, (and marginal) but I think I'm right.)

...which reminds me of the guy who hesitated and stopped between two buses going in different directions, he had loads of time to get through but decided stopping and unclipping in the middle of the road was his best bet (to be fair, the guy looked like he had never ridden a bike before, let alone used clips - all the gear, no idea springs to mind), whereupon the bus on our side of the road stopped to let him clip in and ride through hehe I don't mind numpties, until they put me in danger when I'm stuck behind them tongue out

Paddled in today through the rain. Bit of death on a stick, properly dark, miserable weather albeit warm. No PRs today as it was safety first. Had a motorcyclist tell me my rear light wasnt working. It was, but I guess more illumination is needed.

Cycle paths are now just an ocean of wet leaves populated by stealth walkers all dressed in black with black dogs.

May have to switch to alternative route #1, which would trade the covered in leaves for covered in mud and a few extra miles.

Cycled back in today. Strava decided to switch off unfortunately.

Way home annoyed me, as coming onto Church Street in Malvern (if anyone is familiar - between 6-10%) to stumble across someone on the granny ring and wobbling around all over the road as the pressed down on the peddles. Cannot have been going faster than walking pace. Unfortunately came across this numptie just as a car was passing, which meant I was reduced to his pace and boxed in. I was knackered by this point (being fat and unfit) and having to kick to get past him having wiped all my speed off ruined the whole climb for me. Damn him!

I cycle uphill all the way to work... wind blowing down the hill... £20 says it has turned around by the time it comes to going home...

Went for an MTB ride out in the country this morning then came back to start work from home. Does that count as cycling to work...?

Only if you rode down the stairs from your bedroom.

And a pair of AAAs later I will accept that whilst it was working, batteries may have been a teensy bit flat smile retinas scorched now

Picked up my SS CX bike last week and used it for the first commute today. First time I've owned a road focused bike, my background is DH racing and dirt jumping although I have't ridden in anger for at least 6 years. 8 miles, downhill pretty much the whole way, so fairly easy. One thing you notice is how rutty the road are on a road bike! Not looking forward to riding 8 miles up hill home this afternoon, it'll take a lot longer than the 30 minutes it took me this morning I'd have thought!

Cycled in twice this week so far, and I somehow managed to set a PR going up one of the hills on my route even though I was going carefully in the wet smile

First ever commute yesterday, 11 miles each way none too flat, couldn't have done it a month ago but the legs are getting there now.
80 miles this week my 6th week riding smile

thumbup I wish I had a slightly longer commute. 11 miles would be perfect.

Just add them on at the end, that is what I do and it gives me 4 new strava sections if I have remembered to turn it on.

I had the joys of a 15mph tailwind (the joys of working on an airfield with a nice met station, and cycling roughly the same direction as the runway aren't always nice to know!) this morning so set a record time for me (it's only 6 miles so nothing special for normal people but made me v happy). Unfortunately I've just riden back through another 15mph wind, but into my face - I'm knackered!

I have the same problem. 21km inwards, 19km back, because I avoid a nasty hill that I can't do until I'm properly warmed up... hehe

Soggy. decided to try a less busy route today. missed turning in the grim darkness and rain and oncoming headlights, ended up having to go along the a4 for a bit to get back en route. less trafficy indeed...
