Headwind on the way to the station and the chain fell off. Only just made my train by about a minute. Still got a seat on the train, so its all good smile

Also put my back light on and then realized that my suit carrier covered the light completely. Might have to go to the bike shop and find a helmet mount for a cateye rear light.

Tricky weather this morning. Raining and about 12C, so too warm for a full waterproof.

Brilliant for me, massive tailwind and smashed my PR along the sea front and I'm driving back tonight so won't have to face the head wind cool

+4 mins on the way in this morning, which I put down to:

  • Headwind
  • Bit of a coldy-cough thing going on
  • 58.5 miles of lumpy wet nonsense yesterday
  • Headwind
Didn't hate it though...

Smashed my PB's last night.

As I was knackered I had intended only to ride the 10 miles to the station to get the train home, but as I was so quick, I was going to have to wait ages for a train and feeling good decided to ride the last 23 miles rather than get the train.

1 Hour 55 for the 33 miles, including riding into, through and out of Glasgow city centre. Not too shabby for a 50 something, even if I do say so myself.

My times might have had something to do with the fact I was on my son's spare race bike rather than my normal commuting bike!!!

Even with a tail wind that's an impressive pace!
You read on the forums people saying they average 20-25mph on their rides. That is pretty much my limit for an hours ride on a normal road bike on a normal route by myself. Whenever I've been out with a group the average always seems to end up being slower due to the number of stops for punctures or waiting for the slowest person.

In comparison, my average speed this morning in to the wind was still 27kph. I think it is not so much the wind slowing you down, it just wears you down quicker mentally and you don't put up so much of a fight to keep moving fast!

The way home was like a funfair ride yesterday.

At one point heading west past Lords I was almost horizontal over the bars, straining against the wind and going all of 5mph.

But on the other hand I was rocketing up hills when pointed north.

When I got home I had bits of the local park in my hair.

It was pretty crazy. My hands were hurting from holding on so tight.

Was fun in this morning!! Heavy wind across Marlborough Downs, just stuck and easy gear and pedalled through it. Managed to miss the rain by minutes as one village had some flash flooding and standing water everywhere, must have finished about 10 minutes before I went through!

Anyone else ride a variety of bikes, each one different! Everytime I get on the commuter the setup feels odd and vice versa other bikes. After a couple of commutes it feels "right" then I am back on another bike.

It was a bit breezy here this morning.

Less so than whilst I was running yesterday though.

Bit wet here so I would normally have taken the CX bike but I wanted to check my road bike over ahead of the weekends Fred Whitton as I've fitted qa dinner plate sized cassette on the back in readiness for Hardknott Pass.

This morning was one of those rides where wet weather gear makes no difference whatsoever. I'd have been better off wearing a wetsuit.

Well I'm 47 years old and still managed to fall off my bike this morning due to me forgetting to unclip. I've got a graze on my Knee that my 8 year old niece would be proud of, how embarrassing.

Got lost around Eccles yesterday, so consulted the map whilst strava was running. Worked out where I needed to go, and did another 14 miles. Got very annoyed when I realised looking at the map stopped the strava recording! Shame as coming back I felt pretty quick!

dreadful ride in this morning - full rain all the way to the station, found a broken spoke on my rear wheel as well.

I decided to take the short ride in from Salford Central - first time I've done that for ages.

Now, of course, the sun is shining and it looks great out there!

Well got up this morning to a pair of flat tyres on my Triban, ah well it's a nice day, I'll take the carbon bike. First set of traffic lights I set off and the chain slips while I'm standing on the peddles, sending me spluttering across the junction and eventually sprawling onto the floor in front of quite a few people. No damage to the bike and everything looks fine, banged my knee a bit. Set off again a bit more carefully and a few minutes later there's something definitely not right..... then it dawns on me that I'd changed the gear cables before I went away a couple of weeks ago and hadn't finished setting up the derailleur. Moral of the story, finish what you start!

Coffee, cereal bar.

I had a lazy week last week i.e. I didn't ride on at all... I wasn't expecting much this morning, and when I got to the office, I didn't really think it'd had been a great ride, however; Strava surprised me - Nearly 2 minutes off my PB for the journey, I'm guessing I had a supporting tailwind though
