Great ride in this morning.
Fantastic sunshine and the new bike is great.
Certainly feels a bit quicker with the 29er wheels once you get moving.

Last week Monday rained at Friday I was at FOS, so only three days, legs we're quite tired. After 3 days as pit crew at FOS I was shattered last night.

But this morning's ride in was the easiest I have found it so far. I am gradually getting fit!

In future, if you put them on after the shower, you should be fine, I reckon.

It was a good ride in this morning. Not quite as warm as I'd expected, though. An intervals session of sorts, I'm getting quicker.

A real WTF moment for me this morning. A really nice ride in and I was 30 secs from my office cycling down a narrow one way street. A car swings into the street at speed, cue a hasty emergency stop from me and the approaching car. I politely point out they're trying to drive the wrong way down the road, we all make mistakes and it's an easy one to make. Car doesn't move and she makes it quite clear she knew it was one way and the she had no intention of reversing and I was to get out of her way. I'm totally puzzled so just stand there not really doing anything with her revving her engine at me.

She's stopped next to some roadworks, I'm guessing one of the Project Managers from the site (well spoken middle aged woman in high viz and corporate logos) gets the woman driver to wind the window down and explains to her exactly what she's doing wrong and the massive great big no entry signs she's stopped in front of. Even quotes the Highway Code at her and points out the illegality of her actions, I was very impressed. Driver sits there for another few minutes, then gets out her car, abandons it in the middle of the road and walks off without a word to anyone. However, this is just as Project Manager woman is finishing a phone call to the council who are on their way to lift the car onto the back of a flat bed and provide an appropriate ticket.

Had the driver reversed and gone down the correct road she'd have extended her journey by around 20 secs. Instead she wasted 10 mins being stubborn. I must admit, I could have hopped off the bike onto the pavement but I was feeling mischievous this morning and it gave me a chance to cool down before getting into the office. All very odd.

This chap pulled out of a blind driveway taking all of the footpath. No issue there but he looked straight at me and continued on to the road. I almost think this guy drove at me intentionally but chances are he either failed to see me, failed to notice I was doing over 20mph and thought he'd have enough time to pull out or is just an idiot.

Given his choice of vehicle I'm more convinced of the latter.

Still nice of him to do such a poor job overtaking later. I would have shrugged my shoulders and thought "we all make mistakes" but that maneuver was the straw.

I'm a company director so I'd be knocking on his door tonight and having words with him, but if you're not a company director go and wipe some dog st all over his Mondeo.

I was thinking of dropping "Spec' Savers" leaflets over whenever I go past. It'll kill my times but after a few years it could be worth a smile. hehe

I've never been overtaken by one Hut if I ever am I don't think I'd care. I don't cycle especially for transport, more for fun and fitness.

Legally they are restricted to around 15 MPH with, I think, 200 watt motors. But some have far more than that bolted to their bikes. A mate has just fitted a 500 watt motor to his and will top 27 MPH(checked while riding beside him).
