I'm really not enjoying cycling home in the dark. I feel like my 6th Sense is no longer operational and my ability to spot danger is greatly reduced. I cycle in lots of traffic doing lots of filtering and am finding it difficult to spot potholes and get dazzled by oncoming traffic, plus the roads are covered in leaves making it very slippery.

I'm fine with the weather, I just feel like it's only matter of time before I get knocked off. I'll give it another week and see how I get on.

Exactly the same as ^^^. For the first time today I really thought about whether I should be riding home ( to work isn't so bad, very little traffic at 6:30am ) from work.

Get one of those CREE lights from the "Bike bits I just bought" thread - it'll feel like it's not even dark hehe I'm quite enjoying the dark night but then I ride in London where you're never far from a street light so it's not half as dark as it is elsewhere I imagine.

Really enjoyed the run in today. Crisp but not freezing, sun out & the sea lapping at the shore for a view. Even the dog walkers were giving it a miss.

The only blot on the copybook were two racing Mamils who belted past me with a couple of inches room on a ten foot wide section of path.grumpy

Bit warmer today. However, I'm just sooo slow at the moment, I can't seem to get going.

I'm beginning to feel a little like that; I'm feeling very vulnerable indeed.

My commute isn't so bad as it's mostly cycle paths, but it's the training rides I want to do during the week nights that I really worry about.

I wanted to stay on the road and not get a turbo trainer/roller, but I feel like I'm going to have to!

Was just about to ask for recommendations for ear warmth, the body is a perfect temperature but the ears were freezing this morning frown
I've got one of these which does the job perfectly;

However, if you get particularly hot on your forehead, but your ears get cold, you could try one of these (they go behind your head);

I felt slower today, but the times proved I was faster than yesterday smile

Once again, the sunrise, lack of traffic and 'fresh' weather made it an enjoyable ride in

I wasn't even that slow, it just felt it. I'm off for a plod around the Park tonight with a mate, hopefully I'll be able to find a rhythm.

Steady head wind home, up hill for the entire 8 miles.

Also my freewheel is fubared and kept slipping when I put any power into the pedal. Need to get that sorted.

What's even weirder, I was superfast today, blitzing the traffic light sequence, not needing to stop at roundabouts, felt like a little tailwind, and yet I was slower frown

Infamy, Infamy, my bike has it in for me..........

I had a blinder of a ride home last night. I got my phone out to check out my PR's on Strava only to see the dreaded "Uploaded with errors". frown

2 near misses this morning, both at roundabouts.

So I'm lit up like a christmas tree and wearing a hi-viz top.

1st one about 500M from my house. I'm already on the round about heading for the 2nd exit when a van comes shooting onto the round about right in front of me, trying to beat the traffic lights at the roadworks on his exit. Fortunately, I saw him comming and slammed on the anchors. He saw me at the last second, skidded to a halt and then apologised.

2nd one, on one of these large roundabouts with traffic lights. I'm on the roundabout but stopped at a set of lights. My light turns green to I set off. A tw@t in a Boxster jumps a red and flys straight on to the roundabout, only to be stopped at the next set of lights. Again, I saw him comming and braked, otherwise he would have taken out my front wheel - tw@t!!

Just one of these mornings I suppose.

be careful out there!!

After feeling really slow yesterday morning, I went a long way home, along with a couple of mates. It felt fantastic. Great rhythm, bit of banter, smooth, fast, great.

Uploaded it to find the average speed was really nothing special. Bugger.

He was feeling a bit upset because he couldn't afford a 911?

I had a near miss yesterday evening as a result of another cyclist.

I'm approaching a side road coming in from the left. I'm well lit up with various bits of Hi-Viz, but nothing compared to the prick riding in the other direction with two mega-wattage lights on his bars, both set to flashing mode.

Thankfully I'd already started slowing down because I could see fk-all, as the van driver who pulled out from the side road was just as blinded by the stupid tosser. irked

Being thankful for small mercies, at least neither the van driver nor I were photo-sensitive epileptics. hehe

Can't understand riders who ride with a flashing front light. I have to switch mine to flashing to get to lowest power mode and it gives me a headache after 2 seconds!
