That's fairly hoofing along, well done! If you're on a road bike, the difference between 50psi and 110psi is very noticeable.

I have a choie of 4 showers, get free towels, and have somewhere to hang kit to dry. All I need now is for them to let me park the bike in the bike room, and I'll be laughing.
Thanks - I am going to use the wife's garmin next week and see exactly the distance, elevation and so on. Determined to get in under an hour !

Ran some errands yesterday. I'm definitely not as quick as some of you guys, but this is also Central London at 5pm.... slow in some parts.

Well, I cycled in fine this morning. Bit of a steady one as I think I have a cold coming. I would have cycled home but I couldn't. Some motorcycle riding, leather fetishist Power Ranger secured his midlife crisis to the same railing as my bike was locked to, by passing a huge chain through my frame.

There were three ways to solve this problem:

  1. Using an angle grinder, cut through the barrier.
  2. Using an angle grinder, cut through his chain.
  3. Thread his crotch-rocket through the frame of my bike.
I came home on the Tube, and if it's still locked up in the morning, I'm buying an angle grinder and a new lock, so I'll cut his chain, but lock his bike with my lock, see how he likes it.

wker.

New PB this morning. 14miles (Bexley to St Pauls) in 46mins (as I stop for lights quite happy with an average 17mph). And a new V Max drafting a van down Shooters Hill.

I seem to be able to hold 22mph+ on the straights now, so in "my" man-maths I'm due a pair of Cosmic Carbones as a special treat (anyone know good deals?).
What way do you go then? I'm in sidcup and go via the a20, but rode home via shooters hill last night for a change - first time I've noticed shooters hill is actually quite steep at the top! smile

Is that not a common technique not the motorbike but using another lock to lock a bike they want to steal so they can have a go in the night ?

Well, my morning commute in was livened up by what I affectionately like to call a "Jumper". Cyling down a quiet road at full speed in the cycle lane and there's a pedestrian on the pavement walking in the same direction, just normally walking along with coffee and briefcase in hand. Without any movement of the head or body to check the road was clear he just turns and steps into the cycle lane in one swift movement. Fortunately there was no car next to me, so me screaming at him got him to stop and I was able to swerve round him. Had there been a car there he'd have had my helmet embedded in his chest and I'd have been using him to cushion my fall as there's no way I'd have been able to stop.

It wouldn't surprise me. I've just been to check mine, and it is fine. The chump never left a note, but he did park somewhere else this time.

I go out from St Puuls, over London Bridge, Tooley Street, down to Greenwich, up the nasty Maze Hill there and Shooters Hill, Welling, Bexleyheath then warm down home. Please tell me you're not the bloke on a Pinarello whom took me 100yards from the top (whilst I was wearing my 2006 King of The Mountain jersey). Very, very embarressing!

Well in 2006, I was King of the Mountains, and 24lbs lighter...... But, I'm getting there. 4 days on the bounce each way. Rule 5 and all that.

Got nicely soaked this morning, but the rain helped me beat my best time for the ride by 3 minutes!

Haha - nope, not me! - I'm on a black 'dale CX9 - going to start riding shooters hill more often though - was quite pleased with my time up it!

I was dry on arrival this morning at 9.20am - not that it would have mattered as I always have a shower anyway. Think I'm getting wet this evening though...

Almost taken out by a muppet in a zafira who simply tried to drive straight through me.

And then had an off anyway that was 100% rider error...

Bloody foul evening!

The weather forecast this morning suggested the rain would've blown through before I had to leave, so I took the road bike, 23c rubber and all.

Rain cleared my ARSE!!!!! Slow, nervous ride home, with the front shifter jamming again, just to rub it in. irked

Record time home today, wet an' all. Got drafted by some bloke all the way from Clapton to Leytonstone, he jumped me at some lights so I toasted him up the last incline before Whipps Cross.

Shame I can't do it tomorrow; I'm out of clean clothes in the office.
