Full bibs for the first time this winter. Was a bit overkill I think.

Winter? It's only autumn! Still in shorts and T-shirt!

how good is that kit? and what was the temperature ?
Very good in my view for what it cost. I am new to cycling kit though and so have little to compare it against. But I have only used it once but my head, neck, body and hands were warm, just my bloody toes suffered.

I think it was around 2c and felt colder due to wind.

I am very glad I did it though. I am new to regular cycling and really enjoying it. I still have some lard to shift though!

Your testicles must get in the way whilst cycling.

Mild here this morning so I am still in shorts. Full finger gloves though.

I am having an early morning ride into the Peaks District in the morning and am torn between longs and shorts....

Maybe Shorts and leg warmers is the way forward!

I presume that you mean knee warmers? A great invention. I had been wearing mine up until this week, when I started wearing longs. It's been very cold alongside the Ship Canal, of course...

I didn't ride in this morning, although it did seem milder than it has been all week.

Official sunset tonight is 6.09pm, looks like this is the last ride home I'll manage before it gets properly dark.

See you on the other side sometime in March!

Balls of steel mate, balls of steel.

BEAUTIFUL ride in today even if was just still dark when I left. Bloody roasting by the time I got to Falmer then blitzed it along Lewes Rd into centre.

Well it's 14 degrees in London today, forecast to be 16 by Thursday. Positively balmy.

Was lovely this morning, took the dogs out first thing so got used to the cold then

Took the best bike as I'm gonna do some hills later, but missed the single speed and TBH there was no performance difference!

Best ride I've had in ages this morning - no one tried to kill me (well, above and beyond the usual levels of driver incompetence!) and shaved 4 minutes off my PB. Been trying to get my average speed over 13mph for ages and finally managed it today bounce

I know that's a low average speed for many on here but I live in High Wycombe so there are loads of bloody hills, pleased with that!

Damp made the air feel a bit colder and more viscous this morning. For added resistance, I was carrying a load of tinned food for my "prepper"/sustenance cupboard at the office.

Quite pleasant other than having to ride through a long queue of stationary diesel fume belching vehicles.

First commute for me in a while, need to get back in the swing of things. Folding shirts so they don't crease in a backpack, how?

Anybody got suggestion for water resistant trousers that don't cost the earth and have a usable cut for cycling?

I'm back up to at least 3 days a week now as the good lady needs the car for commuting to her new job.
Of course, today wasn't one of those days and no doubt it'll be raining tomorrow when I'm back on the bike!

Will hit 500 miles tomorrow on my Pinnacle Ramin 29er I bought in July as a commuting bike and so far, its proving very capable as a tool for the 8 miles down tracks/back roads to the office.

Same here, first ride in for almost a month. Felt really good to be back on the bike. I need to make more of an effort.

As for shirts, I roll them rather than fold. I'll partially fold them (fold in half and fold the sleeves in), then put 4 shirts on top of each other and roll them - that then fits perfectly in my rucksack and seems to minimise creasing.

Army surplus breathable (3 layer goretex or similar) waterrproof trousers. Excellent in downpours.
