Someone was killed close by last night.

I am feeling rather angry / concerned for my own safety this morning. I have seen a lot of cyclists with no lights or very poor lights and I'm very wary now of what could happen.
1. A van came around a corner on the wrong side of the road and nearly hit me
2. A car ran a red light whilst i was crossing the road and nearly hit me
3. Pedestrians walking on cycle / pedestrian path in the pitch black dark = very hard to see. My lights got them at the very last minute.
First run out for the jacket since late spring, needed it but didn't like arriving sweaty.
I've also dropped the best part of a stone since I bought it and I feel like it's flapping about me like a 90s football shirt. I predict a Wiggle delivery in the near future!
It's going to be a windy one on the way home tonight though I reckon.

Worst ride in ever. Wind and rain and cold was bad enough but then hail stones. I had shorts on as well and hail stones on bare skin, including one side of my face, is incredibly painful. Had to wring my cycling gear out before I put it onto radiators. Hot shower was a lot nicer than normal. My clean socks and boxers are now on a radiator drying as my bag isn't as waterproof as it needed to be.
I should have taken the car...
I should have taken the car...
It was wet, windy and a bit chilly this morning.
As it should be in November.
Unfortunately, I had forgotten to bring some work-critical items with me to the office, so I was required to get back on the bike and ride straight home in the rain, wind and cold.
I felt surprisingly cold when I got home.
Served me right, I suppose.
Working (having a brew break)at home now.

Wash your mouth out!For me there is some satisfaction to be had from having an 'adventurous' commute in wind, rain or snow -and even more from knowing that I won't be sat in a traffic jam for 20 minutes queuing to get onto the motorway on the way home.

And the smug feeling you get when people ask if you cycled to work in this rain/wind/hail/mud...For me there is some satisfaction to be had from having an 'adventurous' commute in wind, rain or snow -and even more from knowing that I won't be sat in a traffic jam for 20 minutes queuing to get onto the motorway on the way home.
Steve
Nasty little storm just whipped by here and I was thinking "oh no, here we go" but it's gone all George Formby now.

I agree with Steve. Some of my favourite commutes have been in the depths of winter. A memorable one was a morning commute, 6am, riding along Portsdown Hill towards Southampton cold and a bit windy but nothing too awful. MASSIVE arc of lightning lit up the sky... things escalated as the ride continued. By Fareham it was heavy rain, by Swanwick the roads had turned to rivers. Upon arriving at work I was literally saturated. I had to try and wring as much water out of my clothes before entering work.
The rest of the morning I had to put up with all of the driving losers complaining about how bad the weather was, how bad the traffic was etc... I was just sat there with a smug smile, feeling like a hero. Just thinking about this story has put a smile on my face as it was that epic. This type of commute has never happened whilst travelling by car!

Somehow managed to forget my main light which meant I only had a 170 lumen job for the pitch-black ride home. Now much fun.
Still, it was relatively dry but a little chilly and because I wasn't really able to keep my speed up due to not being able to see where I was going I couldn't get myself properly warmed up.

Putting wet shorts on for the ride home wasn't the best. Neither was Strava not logging my ride.
I put wet shorts back on everyday, but that's the penalty of 28-32 degrees every morning and an hours ride with no wear to dry kit at the office. But at least it's 30-34 on the way home
Only for two more weeks
