The daily "I cycled to work" thread
Discussion
I rode in for the first time this year today, there was a bit of ice outside my apartment but the roads were fine and the temperature was a couple of degrees above freezing so I was comfortable in trousers, a softshell and overshoes. The weather is totally bonkers here at the moment, this time last year it was -10 but the forecast says we should see +12 degrees this afternoon!

Warm but very windy today. The ride home is going to be very hard going.
Certainly will be, weather is horrendous here!I'll be taking the lovely, warm, comfy BMW 745i home with bum warmers on when I finish here at 7
Thanks to having to sack our useless childminder yesterday, I couldn't commute into the office today, as I've got to pick the kids up from school, so I decided to go for a blat on the mountain bike before starting work as a circular commute.
Epsom & Ashtead Commons are, to say the least, rather muddy. There was one mile in the middle where I averaged about 4.5mph with an average heart rate of around 155 bpm! I was so chuffed to make it through without putting a foot down. Best "commute" in ages!

those strong headwinds can be utterly soul destroying! I remember riding into work once and my average speed was around 12mph, whereas on a day without much wind it'd be around 17mph (20 miles). Character building....or something like that!
The 'p' fairy came to visit me yesterday - as I was on my Brompton I don't have any thing to repair it, so I pumped up the tire about 5 times on the way to work, managed to get about 3 miles on the way home before walking.
Tire fixed last night.
Or so I thought. Nearly 1 mile in, the tire made a whoosh noise and gave up. I walked home and got my single sped bike out, then missed the late train by less than a minute! Got to work and the shed combination has changed so spent half an hour trying to work that out.
Remind me - why do I cycle?
