bks. I forgot my shirt for work. bks.

I'm now an honourary member of the caretaking team for the day as one of them lives on site and has lent me a polo shirt. smile
lol good shout

When I worked in Reading there was a retail park by the office, several times I had to wonder over and buy whatever I had forgot in Next, usually trousers

Had a mass ironing and washing spree over weekend, drove yesterday and brought in about 10 shirts and trousers....except I forgot socks and belts, so today I have no belt , one white cycling sock and one black one....I nearly forgot pants as well!

First time for a week riding in, all the drains/dykes and ditches are full of water, and the second nesting pair of swans are washed away. It was nice to be back on the bike.

Really nice ride in today (pants in my pocket because I remembered my drawer of drawers at work was empty).
Early in the ride, just outside my village, I cycled alongside another rider and we got chatting. Turns out he has a similar Lingfield starting point to his commute but he travels on a further 8 miles after I'm done in the city to Ilford. We slowed each other down with a bit of chat but it was good to compare notes, I followed his route which gives me some new ideas.

Nice ride in this morning. Pleasant temperature, although I still wish it were a bit warmer!

I got a bit of a shock pulling out of a junction on the way home yesterday....

The big ring on my CX bike just tore! I didn't realise I was generating such huge wattage outputs biggrin

Although I thing the root cause is the missing chain ring bolt.

Salt grit and lack of maintenance? wink

Head wind last night and stopped to push a broken down car away from a blind bend. Raced the rain home this morning. Got just as wet as it was already 17'C. Bleaugh! It'll soon be too hot for me.

hehe

Drove in today with enough shirts for this week and next. I already had everything else here.

I'm lucky that I have a locker at the office, and I'm not customer facing so am expected to be "reasonably smart". In practice this means chinos, shirt and smart shoes.

I have an emergency change of clothes in the bottom of the locker, and then keep my shoes and two pairs of trousers, (taking them home one at a time to wash periodically.) I then bring in ironed shirts with a pair of pants and socks all held togehter. I have about 7 shirts at the moment for this, and usually take a rucksack each way one a week.

The rest of the time I get to ride with just a phone, wallet and keys in a jersey pocket, as there are (relatively) cheap catering facilities on site. Doing most days without a rucksack is very pleasant, and there is a (rubbish) iron at work for if the shirts come out of the bag a bit creased.

We have a gym for a bit of a stretch and showers too, which all makes it more doable.

South Wimbledon was flooded & i foolishly went through against the advice of the cute WPC, fking soaked.

Couldn't believe what i saw at Tooting Broadway, smack bang in the middle of the CS7 route was an uncovered man hole , the cover was completely off, at first i thought it was surface water or a piece of wood as i got closer ,Just unbelievable cars were just avoiding it by inches, if a cyclist or god forbid a bus had hit & gone down it then things would have been pretty nasty. I felt like Bruce Willis ushering cars around it, i did manage to put some bin bags & part of the cover in front of the hole to alert my fellow CS7 users, so bloody dangerous. Shame i wore my Batman t shirt yesterday because i felt like i was saving lives as well as cycling to work & saving the planet.

No need to thank me , all in adays work for us planet saving , life saving, South London cycling super hero's

Interesting couple of days this week.

Yesterday evening I had a run in with a young kid, probably 7 years old or younger, who threw a rock at me as I rode past. He soon backed down when I asked where he lived and what his mum would think about it! Fortunately hit me on the back, not my head!

Left work tonight to find a pin through my very flat back tyre. No repair kit or spare tube with me. A very nice colleague gave me and the bike a lift home. Away all weekend so will have to fix it before work next week.

Only managed one commute in last two weeks (Thursday).

Legs felt a bit rubbish and the London humidity was a killer on the way in.

Nice pint on the way home though.

Off to work today. Not happy about having to work on the weekend. Getting 1.5x TOIL, but still, I thought I had given this up when I left retail, but we have some work on the servers that can only be done when we don't have a bunch of users in, and apparently it's not ok to just boot them off for the day. On the plus side I am starting late and get a nice Saturday morning cycle in, and I won't have to wait an hour for the showers. On the minus side it may rain this evening. Fingers crossed.

An hour wait for a shower? Lots of people or only 1 shower?

I knew I was lucky with my shower situation at work (I only have to wait 5 mins 1/20 times I would estimate) but I didn't realise anyone would be regularly dealing with that! I'm lucky because the shower I use is in an area at work that is only accessible by a small percentage of people due to the sensitive stuff produced there. I think only 4 people including myself use it smile

Lots of people and only one shower. It used to be ok, until they almost doubled the number of people in the office, by removing some files and meeting rooms, but gave us no extra facilities. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't claim to be cycle friendly.

Cycled in the morning and got soaked.

The weather forecast was about as accurate as a UKIP economic projection.

I was told there was a "5% chance of rain" but it pissed down for 9 of the 10 miles.

Good fast run in this morning and a beautiful sunny morning.

Only spoilt as I arrived in the City and found myself wondering how many of the people I'd seen on the way in would still have jobs next year.
