Made it in for the 4th (working) day in a row.

Great temp to start (19 degrees-ish).

Usual plethora of near misses but I resisted the temptation to film it and put it on Youtube.

Tesco Super Berry Granola.

Keep at it lad!

Lovely sunny ride in this morning, taking a slightly different route that is about 3/4 of a mile longer, but low traffic for much more of the time, and not particularly longer in time either.

It really feels like we've had a proper summer this year.

Yeah it's been amazing recently. I had two weeks of commuting in the sun then two weeks on the beach in Greece in Greece followed by two weeks of commuting in the sun.

Doesn't get much better than that

Used my new Brompton for my commute to London for the first time yesterday. 2 miles to the station at this end, and then Waterloo to Victoria in London. I loved it and it save me a chunk of time over walking/bus at the London end. I also don't think it took any longer at the home end compared to car to station and faffing around with parking and buying tickets.

All in all a very good experience and apart from days with torrential rain it will be the commuting tool of choice now.

Used my mountain bike for a change today. For the first 20 mins its worse than a road bike but for the next 20 into town its better. Only took 5mins longer (40min vs 45mins) than normal too. I often wonder if I should use it more for the commute?

Bit cooler this morning. So I wore a jumper, not ideal, its an old sweat shirt hoodie type thing.

Before the full onset of winter (for which I have an excellent wind and water proof fleece), I'm going to need an intermediate jumper for autumn.

Colder in Coventry this morning too. Rain forecast for this afternoon's extended ride home.

Strava fell over & didn't record my ride.

bks. I fitted a Wahoo Blue SC speed and cadence sensor yesterday but I clearly didn't put the left pedal back on securely enough. This morning coming up a hill it felt like my foot was slipping but when I stopped the pedal was partially undone and at a funny angle inside the crank arm. I've taken it out and the thread on the crank is completely fking fked. LBS for it at the weekend!

I didn't make it out for my long Wednesday ride this week so had to do it this morning. Slightly shorter route than normal as I had to be in work by 7:30 sharp.

Things I am now regretting are A) taking my mudguards off last night and B) not bringing a coat... looking a tad damp out there this afternoon!

Yeah, I have done once a week for the last month! It's uplifting actually and the getting up gets easier! I've got a tight work and family schedule so fitting in long rides is pretty much impossible at conventional times. The dawn raid is great... quiet roads, great sunrises and a sense of satisfaction for the rest of the day!

I'm really looking forward to when my kids start properly sleeping through the night, and I'm not absolutely and permanently knackered. I see many of these dawn raids, combined with a slightly earlier bedtime. Hopefully next summer should see 30 mile commutes to work at least a couple of days a week. (It's normally 9 miles.)

I've got 2 year old twins. I've not had an uninterrupted nights sleep since they were born but I got to the point where I just thought screw it and got on with it! I managed to get by when they were up 4 times a night each, so the fact that they're now only up once or twice it evens out about the same!

I normally try and get to bed early the night before and the night after the ride and it doesn't seem to mess me up too much. (My 5 hours sleep last night were in a cot bed...)

Well the weather forecast was wrong, I had a good extended commute this afternoon.

I feel the pain with lack of sleep too, my son is 12 weeks old, other than my friday commutes I have one evening a week I can get out and Sunday mornings, so still getting a fair amount of riding in.

Made it today which makes it 5/5. That's it for the next 4 working days as other things now get in the way.

It was very refreshing this morning as (a) the light drizzle kept me cool and (b) the light drizzle kept loads of random summer cyclists off the roads.

Roll on winter :-)

My second day cycling in, from Lewisham to Marylebone. About an hour, and utterly soaked when I arrived - but enjoyed it!

Sometimes those "random summer cyclists" are just "parents". When the kids are off school there's no need to take the car to drop them off at school/childminder on the way in, so the opportunity to cycle presents itself. As soon as school kicks in again, it's back to the car.

Odd though, that there's no noticeable increase in cycle commuters during autumn half term and Christmas holidays... wink

May have developed an injury frown

slight discomfort behind my right knee on extension of the knee with the ankle flexed....wasn't too painful but definitely discomfort there and not right, stopped before it got too bad. Hopefully just an "off day", I'll have tomorrow off and try Wednesday. If it's still not right then I'll have to have some time off frown

I don't the ones I am referring to have driving licences.

The ones I'm thinking of take the tube when it's wet and cycle (randomly from lane to lane) when it's dry.

In winter, in my experience, they're far less prevalent.

So I have fewer near misses.
