I'd like to be able to say I rode to work in the rain this morning through enthusiasm, but it wouldn't be true, I did it because my car is broken.

It was ok. I got wet, but I'm not made of sugar, on the plus side, I beat the traffic.

Heavy mist would be how I described it this morning, and not entirely unpleasant.

Bit slower on the MTB with heavy legs due to a broken nights sleep, but still better than getting on the bus.

Seriously get one of these. It's still too hot for me to cycle but when the fog season hits that light will be a life saver.

Maybe I didn't make that clear enough, and light drizzle would be a better description. Either way, I have one of these guys at the moment, which I use a lot:

Made it in again today - although my legs were absolutely done about 2 miles from work (9-10 miles in)! That's 2/2 this week, but I think tomorrow might have to be a rest day - build up to doing it every day. I already feel a little fitter though, which is great.

Lovely ride, couldn't have asked for better conditions.

Porridge and raisins, turned down a jam doughnut...

A chap from www.revoracing.org.uk caught me dawdling along this morning and was nice enough to go just slow enough for me to manage a conversation with him, (providing each sentence only had about 6 words.)

Turns out he works at the office block next to me, and his lad is racing in Sidmouth on Thu evening as a warm up for the Tour of Britain departing from there on Fri.

Nice fella, nice bike, fairly brutal pace!

Hot this morning. Very sweaty.

First ride with the new frame bag (as featured on the other thread), fitted in shirt, boxers, socks, tool roll, pump, light battery and lunch. Impressive.

Kids are back in school, attitude on the roads has dropped immediately.

Car & van went through a "one way at a time" when I was already going, the opposite way.

Idiot in an old BMW went past, too close. Caught up, mentioned he was a bit close - he went past (turning left) saying "get a car". Why should I get a 3rd car, dope!

Bus went past, saw lady putting arm out and pulled back into me. Brake, round the outside. Got to end of road at same time as him.

Still, it was a nice warm day today!

Definitely, a woman tried to put a squeeze on me at a pinch point. Silly cow ended up having to throw out the anchors all to save a couple of seconds irked

Fantastic piece of cycling Karma last night.

Was cycling up a very small blind crested hill with double solid white lines (railway bridge) and not enough room to overtake a cyclist safely so I always take the primary position for the very short distance. This dissuades around 95% of motorists from a suicidal overtake but not all. So a white A Class AMG Line overtakes fully on the wrong side of the road with zero visibility and is obviously not happy with me, especially when all that happens is that he gets to the large queue of traffic stuck at the lights 10 secs faster than me. He's stopped in the queue then realises I'm probably just going to slowly filter past him and all the other stationary cars so suddenly swerves the car to the kerb to block me - crunches his alloy on the kerb and then pops his tyre. I have no idea how he managed to do it at such a slow speed, but it was truly priceless. I just pootled past him on the right as he pulled over to survey the damage.

I kind of thought that was going to end differently, perhaps with a visit to a hedge bottom.

I think a kerbed alloy and popped tyre is the perfect amount of punishment.

Enjoyed that cycling karma tale!

Im very new to cycling, I just started university to retrain as a nurse and I have borrowed a bike to cycle in and out of the town (7km each way) For the most part, I have loved it. My legs feel good, I sweat a lot though I think because my rucksack is quite heavy.

Today was blissfull, mostly empty cycle path by the river, unfortunately I forgot I was getting my uniforms today and they gave me four lots of trousers and the same in tunics. I had to balance it between my knees/handlebars. Not ideal.

Do you all carry, a tyre pump, puncture kit everytime you ride?

Finally thankyou to whoever suggested eating that Soreen stuff, saved me today!

Usually yes. Except for that time ...

Yes, a small pump, tube, patches, multitool and spare chain link. Has saved me from a long walk on quite a few occasions.

No. Just fit some kevlar-lined tyres. I haven't had a puncture in 7 years of commuting.
