It feeds the cycling and vice versa.
I find that cycling helps with my leg stuff I do at the gym. Im not a fan of the amounts of pressure leg presses put on knee joints so I find cycling helps a lot.

Also, thanks for the tyre link earlier. beer

National Cycle to Work Day yesterday so thought that I should make the effort. Legs were a bit heavy from Revolve24 at the weekend but nice to get them spinning again!

Got a little 200 mile ride down Wales next weekend, so probably need to start 'tapering' or whatever it is that the pro's do!

I "celebrated" National Cycle to Work day as well...

I was pretty hungry when I got to work, and am a little annoyed I just missed out on the Golden Ratio of 100ft per mile.

Never mind though...

I celebrated National Cycle to Work Day by strapping my winter lights and high-vis on due to the mad fog in Birmingham. Fine, clear and warm for the way home though!

Biblical downpours in London today.

Still made it in, albeit 20 mins late.

Still damp.

Third time this week (but missed cycle to work day). Legs felt like lead this morning so I'll have to stop at the pub on the way home!

I checked the weather before I let this morning - 10% of rain. It started chucking down halfway through my ride in, got soaked. Had a lovely ride home this evening though.

Damp this morning.
Based on the window, wet this evening.
This year's goal was 2,200 miles of commuting by bike, finally made it today (well, will do - about halfway home is the magic number).

So this morning I am waiting on my trusty pushrod like the law abiding chap I am, having stopped at a red light for backstreet roadworks on my ride to the office.

We've been on red for ca 90 secs when suddenly the guy in the car behind me decides he's had enough of waiting, pulls out and runs the light. No tyre shredding or aggro, just like he's thought 's*d this' and driven off. Nothing came the other way so he got away with it. Shortly after, the light goes green and the rest of us move off.

A bit so what? I know, but the irony of cyclist-me, who would normally be cast as the villain of the piece, dutifully waiting at the stop line and being overtaken by a red-light jumping car driver made me smile. Sometimes obeying the rules is more subversive than breaking them...

I saw 3 cars jumping red lights this morning. Bloody cyclists!

There have recently been some temporary lights outside the secondary school while they widen the path on one side, install one on the other, and put in a proper crossing.

My wife was waiting (in the car) for the green light, when the driver behind her had evidently "had enough" and went through. The missus took the reg and reported it to the Police, who had precisely no interest.

This was outside at school at a few minutes after 5pm.

---

Anyhow, no ride in this morning for personal reasons, but last night was my first proper wet one for a while. Shoes now drying in the utility room.

Uneventful ride in today (or at least no more than the usual near misses).

It's a bit boring having to start factoring in weather protection and lighting but it's that time of year.

Absolutely barrelled in today.

By tomorrow I'll have done three commutes and two hardcore gym sessions with a personal trainer.

Lest week was much the same, next week will be too.

Building some muscle and burning through some fat.....

Getting MUCH better at slipstreaming double deckers :-)

Brompton in this morning, spinning along like a good 'un ready for a Velodrome session next week.

Sadly, no one going the same way to pass. frown

There's never anyone heading in the same direction as me when I'm 'on one'. However, when I'm on a recovery ride after a big weekend, a whole peloton goes past me!

I experienced my first ever Double Brompton today. I was making decent progress through Regents Park Inner Circle today when not one but two Bromptons passed me. Quite easily.

Luckily no-one I know saw it so it officially never happened, OK.

I was trying to work out how that mid fold works - the image makes you think there must be chain problems -which you know wouldn't work.

But after a bit of googling I can now see how it works. That's one tall folded bike. Not really compact but still a lot better than a standard tandem. Wouldn't fit in this weeks ''Shed'' - but what would other than a couple of girls and their handbags !

Today makes 5 this week - making good progress and feeling way fitter than a month ago.

Some plank in a 57 plate A5 decided he couldn't wait to get past me (in a 20 zone, with me doing about that) so nearly took me out - caught him and sailed past him as he turned off to a side road so utterly pointless of him.
