It's finally cool enough for me to get back on my bike. woohoo

The Cateye Solar light shining into my water bottle worked brilliantly. I would look over my shoulder and the whole road was illuminated (lowest setting as well). hehe

Remember those laser lights from a few years ago. It was like that but the batteries can handle it for more than a few seconds.

So I haven't cycled in since August due to the heat and I haven't worn my face mask since April due to the heat but as I was the outskirts of town a car pulled along side me and the operator shouted...

Last night was a gauntlet. I do wish people would pay attention to the road and not the pretty fireworks. silly

This morning was great until the headwind picked up and sleet came in with the tide.

Sugar beet season so my bike looks like I've been to a ride through Betty Ford clinic. hehe

Good morning, my name is Louiebaby and it's been 5 weeks since my last cycling commute...

Back on the bike this morning after my collarbone / velodrome interface and related broken bone, and whilst it felt a bit "wrong" when I got out of the saddle on a hill, it was otherwise just fine.

My time was nothing startling, but also not too slow, possibly aided by a slight cross-tail wind. I decided not to race a roadie up the last hill near work, which turned out to be a good decision as the front quick release was pretty loose when I rolled into the car park.

The worst bit:

I seem to have completely missed "arm-warmer season" and am straight into a proper jacket. This makes me a little grumpy, but I'm sooooo glad to be back riding again.

Bit of rain this morning and cool for a change. That's fine. What was more challenging was the nicely compressed, slick and damp leaves helpfully spread on all the corners I take on my commute (cobbled roads btw). The steel-surfaced bridge I have to cross was also rather dramatic.......
Add man hole covers to that too.

I nipped out to overtake someone on Friday and as I did went over a wet man hole, both wheels jinked out and I unclipped my left foot rather dramatically to counter balance. He must have thought I was a right dick!

Exactly a week ago I was in shorts and a T shirt.

Today I had a shell over a long-sleeved shirt with a base layer under that.

Nice and toasty but s-l-o-w this morning.

I drove. Would have braved the sub zero temps if I'd not seen the rain forecast for 4pm.

Will have to run at lunch instead.

Same as above, woke up feeling under the weather and don't mind the cold, I do mind getting in at 7pm soaked through to the skin and having sto spend 20 minutes sorting out loads of wet kit....so drove!

Dry this morning but damp and slippery this afternoon. Cold on the hands though even with my Aldi winter gloves.

Very wet this morning - I'm not sure my kit (especially shoes) will dry out before tonight.

We've just had some horrific rain, but it seems to have settled down now.

Hoping to get home relatively dry tonight. Last night I was a bit moist, but most of my kit dried enough to wear this morning.

Birmingham is drizzly and cold, but the rain stayed light this evening. So a bit uncomfortable but not too bad. Definitely an evening for long sleeves and leggings though.
