Been in the wilds of Liverpool and Leeds for the past 3 days, so back on bike today. 3 quite nice mornings gone. Today rain and wind, tomorrow morning 2 degrees.

'triffic.

Oh well, as I haven't been on the bike since Saturday (before this morning) hopefully the grumpiness will lift for the weekend.

Cold, wet, with a headwind and I was feeling a bit rough and woozy with a congested head and headache this morning.

I set a record for slowness and was told that I looked terrible when I got the office!

paracetamol, coffee and breakfast made me feel much better.

I'm hoping that there will be a tailwind on the way home.

Got very wet and cold on the ride to work this morning. Forgot a change of underwear so had to dry my boxers on a radiator while I showered...
Wind has changed direction though so the ride home should be better, albeit still wet.

Today I discovered that the £12 Lidle soft shell jacket is not waterproof. Its not badged as waterproof, so I suppose I was expecting a bit much.

I did contemplate taking my Altura waterfroof jacket, but I have to sit on the train in between rides and I knew I would get quite warm sitting on the train with the jacket on.

Now done 60 miles on the Tern Folder. I'm beginning to like it despite it having a few issues. It makes me wonder if its worth me buying a Brompton at all.

Not too cold though smile

I think I became one of 'those people' today...

Alarm went off at 06:15, it's on the window sill so my first view of the day was met with the greyest, wettest and windiest morning I have seen for a long while. My first thought was... 'YES! I get to try my wet weather gear!' smile

Fully wrapped up in thermal socks, lined bid tights, cheapo compression layer, ls jersey, neoprene overboots, waterproof jacket and trousers, the ride in was toastie and dry! smile

Smug-mode... 'engaged' biggrin

I have been doing 16 miles a day for a while now. May be buying a house with a 40 mile round trip, but will likely start of two days a week riding to get used to it. I don't think anymore than three days a week is likely. Also, I cycle in an old rugby top on a 18 year old Orange Clockwork with slicks and only 4 gears working properly!

Am I now into the realms of having to worry about nutrition and stuff? I like eating what I want but this may need some more thought??

No, don't worry about it. The only thing you need to make sure is that you eat enough. If you're doing that many miles you'll be burning a extra 1500 calories a day.

What he said, although I'll add you need to invest in some lycra.

Despite a slight cold it was a lovely ride in today.

Although thanks are due to the labrador that nearly took me out when it bolted out of a field, trailing a very apologetic pensioner.

Very quiet in London this morning, apparently a lot of the schools have broken up today.

yes I did question whether it was Friday when I first left the house - I've never noticed such a difference during holidays.

It's a tad fresh this morning, since I'm back on my bike for the first time in about 3 months following some lung trouble, I'm going to blame my performance on the wind.
Good to be back though!

Cycle was fairly normal, but as I was giving it full power down high holborn, I looked to my right and I saw Gok Won (D list celeb and fashion consultant). Naturally I said hello Gok Won! He waved back, but generally looked unimpressed frown

On a side note, I am enjoying being on the bike every day, but the Tern folder is becoming annoying. Its not stable enough when folded and the rear mech is rubbish.

Its my first used bike purchase and I'm not sire I am going to buy a complete used bole again. So far I have replaced the bb, had the gears indexed and had the rear hub serviced. Probabaly going to have new brake blocks fitted eventually.

No going to have it for long though smile
