The daily "I cycled to work" thread
Discussion
After nearly 8 months off the bike, I'm now back to bike commuting as my wife has a new job and has nabbed the car!
Managed 76 miles this week, first time I've done a full week cycling everyday in over a year.
Shorts and short sleeve shirt every say, even at 6.30am and I'm definitely getting faster, albeit from a very slow starting point!

Had a big off yesterday, managed to completely miss a barrier at circa 15mph, did a 360 over it (not quite as gracefully as Danny Macaskill), crash landed flat out on my back about 10 feet from the barrier with the bike next to me.
Dehydration, bright sun and some hot joggers caused the momentary lapse in concentration.
Nothing broken, not even the bike, just a few bruises and scrapes, very lucky indeed.
A big chunk out of the helmet probably absorbed the worst of the impact.
And thank god it was only witnessed by two people.

No feeling more depressing than following someone on a sit up and beg, in a gigantic fluorescent over coat and taking 2 miles to reel the bugger in - Then seeing the battery pack on the back as they turn off in front of you.....that's cheating
I've had that before. Was shocked at how well a pensioner was pedalling to stay ahead of me.
Did leave me tempted to just buy one myself rather than pedalling though.

There was one in London where I swear he had rigged up a 24v system. The bugger was doing 25mph on the flat and not even trying!Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
