The daily "I cycled to work" thread
Discussion
fked off .... The crash last Monday had me diagnosed with severely bruised ribs, I managed to ride the bike home on Friday night from work to get it back and they were OK, having not ridden all week.
Had ridden 130kms on 5 rides commuting this week and the ribs had been tolerable, then after I got to work, walking along suddenly something gave out and breathing was difficult.
Doctor gave me immediate pain relief as it was evident I was struggling and sent me for the X-rays we didn't feel necessary last week. Diagnosis of a cracked rib.
Also had the toe X-rayed that I stubbed on Tuesday and that's broken too.
So I had managed 5 rides with a cracked rib, 3 rides with a broken toe and now I don't imagine being able to get back on the bike for days, although I've got 6 long haul, flights, 2 short haul slights, 4 countries and 3 continents to visit in the next 4 weeks anyway, so the commuting would've yielded low numbers.
Annoyed that after 10 days and some rides the ribs felt tolerable and now I've regressed badly ..... August has been a wash out and now it'll be October before I get riding regularly again, fingers crossed.
Nothing for breakfast, took one KOM with a cracked rib, not much consolation!

Arm warmers this morning. That beckons the start of Autumn. Before long it will be tights and winter jerseys as well
Steve
I don't think I've ridden without a gilet more than about 5 times this year Steve
Resurfacing work made for rough roads in places, my newly-diy-serviced cyclocross bike is going well -like a new bike!
Banana and a multi grain bagel.

All this rain over the last few days has been quite frustrating as I've been wanting to get out on the bike.
.....and no rule #9 jibes please.
It hasn't stopped me........and no rule #9 jibes please.

What rain?
At 4:20 in the morning with 20 miles each way. I'm afraid to say it's stopped me ! If it carries on like this, I'll be wearing long sleeves by next week. Was fresh as a refrigerated daisy this morning!
Despite the amount of rain this week, after 11 hours of riding it has probably only actually rained on me for less than half an hour.
Wholegrain pitta (toasted) with butter and honey.

Yes, a bit chilly this morning.
First decent ride since fitting the new seatpost and obviously didn't clamp it up tight enough, saddle now pointing up a bit which wasn't too comfortable.
My seatpost slipped down about 3cm on the ride home. I had wondered why pedalling was getting harder...First decent ride since fitting the new seatpost and obviously didn't clamp it up tight enough, saddle now pointing up a bit which wasn't too comfortable.

6:45. I was only wearing a long sleeve Jersey. A thin neck warmer makes me feel warmer.
Blimey. I suffer with the cold but was still only in a jersey and gillet today.S10GTA said:

I took the direct route this morning.
It was a bit damp and chilly. Knee warmers and a buff were required.
A buff? What time was it?!It was a bit damp and chilly. Knee warmers and a buff were required.
Gillet, arm warmers?? NOT ON MY WATCH!
Full summer gear, short sleeves and shorts, was a bit nippy but I don't feel the cold, plus I do a steep hill straight away so no need for any other layers
Nice ride in today, finally sorted the fit on my bikes, taken me bloody months, realised I need the saddle just a few slight degrees upwards pointing to maximise pedal stroke and eliminate knee pain.
