I will not be commuting for a good few weeks now after a fairly spectacular collarbone breaking crash on the velodrome last Sunday night.
Get well soon.

I was knocked off last week but had a lucky escape with cuts and bruises.

My £2500 carbon bike wasn't quite so lucky.

Still cycling on my trusty old Defy.

Everyone still in shorts?
Many thanks, re-x-raying it tomorrow to see if it's heeling properly.

I'm 2 weeks down now, and this morning spent 30 mins on a recumbent static bike in the gym. So I'm still in shorts!

I need to be doing something to keep ticking over, I can't be without any cardio!

Yes. Lower legs don't ever get cold.

I ran the Great Birmingham Run yesterday, so the commute today was a little unpleasant. I've moved on to leggings, but really shorts are still fine.

...and another 7 segment bests & fastest total on the way home.

Feeling the benefits of 5 weeks of gym work.

And me. I've got mudguards to keep the worst off them.

Mrs H bought me 2 pairs of Muddy Fox long troosers last week. Much more comfy and warm!

They have straps under the feet, first time I've had that since about 1975!

Coming to the middle of my 4th week of riding every day. Getting easier everyday still.

Did anyone else have the pleasure of the London monsoon around 1730 yesterday? Yet people still wonder why riders aren't wearing 'normal' clothes.

Thought I would join this thread not i'm a semi-regular commuter (semi regular = 2/3 times a week)

Monsoon? Yup sure did, although I was travelling from Woking to Hampton. Bloody BBC weather app completely missed any chance of rain! any. So I wasn't prepared for the deluge on the way home!

It did make me feel rather rugged when I got in all dirty and wet, grrrr!

Luckily I missed it as I worked late.

For once I forgot to check the forecast in the morning and so didn't bring in my lightweight overshoes.

Full tights - I can regulate my heat with my top half pretty easily.

Same wind this morning, hence it was hard work.

Chillier too.

Down to 48mins this morning.

I'm thinking I should be getting some wintery tyres? A bit slippy in places when using the brakes.

Running on 25mm slicks. New to all this cycling business.

Im in full tights. Its chilly up north cool

I have mudguards and my lower legs still get wet. My thinking is it's much better having slightly wet shorts that will easily dry throughout the day, than soggy wet full lengths that won't dry out.

That's my logic.

Plus my shins just don't get cold.

Was Monday but got utterly, utterly soaked on the way home. Of course I did have some waterproof over trousers, but it went from mild spitting to torrential so quick I had no time to even stop somewhere dry to faff about putting them on. I haven't been so wet in ages (ooh-err)

Also frustrated by the number of people without lights wearing black (same as it ever was)

And rather daftly the girl on a bike with the huge rear mudguards that completely obscured her red light until I was alongside her.

50mins.

These colder mornings I am finding that my contact lenses are getting dried out. One came out on my ride home last Friday and both have come out on my way here today.

Having to get her indoors to pick me up after work. I'm blind as a bat. frown

I think I need some clear sunglasses/goggles to keep the cold wind from my eyes.
