Since this topic started, I've swapped the Boardman for a Supersix. I now have Aksiums, but I'm very tempted by a set of Ksyrium Elites for £320....

Someone either tell me its a pointless cost exercise and that they will feel little to no difference, or provide me with a better alternative for the money.

I dont ride to race, but I like riding quickly in and around the lanes and over the hills.
Nothing wrong with Aksiums. I've got a set and used them throughout last winter.
I ride with a lot of guys who like the Ksyriums.

Personally though I've found what are the most transformative wheels in Dura Ace 50mm 7850 Clinchers. I understand the new ones are even nicer and I'm converted totally to the benefits of the deep section rims.
They aren't really bothered by side winds, accelerate like stink, fly on the flat and descents and at just under 1600g a set aren't heavyweights either so climbing isn't an issue.

Plus the skewers are really nice biggrin

At the end of the day though the guys that can drop me will drop me no matter what I'm riding...

No Shimano freehub option with that link - only Campagnolo, but if Campy is what you need, 32% saving sounds like a deal...
or wiggle have racing 3 for 303 - http://www.wiggle.com/fulcrum-racing-3-clincher-wh...
or get some campy wheels, seeing as they make the fulcrums anyway? zondas are the same weight and cheaper - 260ish.

Honestly - once you've ridden one of the new generation of wide rims you won't go back to the older narrow style.

Recently got some Ksyriums - they're excellent wheels, light and very stiff (no brake rub). Recommended!
