Another interesting interview regarding the Hour record and Watts .. But this time for a 'Normal' racers attempt .

Can only assume his position isn't 'great', as Bottril's coach said he would have done between 52km and 53km based on their testing, and I doubt Botty does much more than 380 watts for an hour.

Looks like my position from last year smile

Having had flu for well over a week and missing training for another week due to travelling with work I have lost a fair bit of power, it's depressing. Still, good to see things coming back yesterday, there is a half chance I'll match my early TT pace from last year as it wasn't great and there is still a couple of weeks before rd 1.

Do you guys know how many days off the bike completely you would start to notice a decline in power at FTP ?

I believe its 4 days then then the body will decline .. I will find the article where i recently read about the decline from Peak fitness to 3 months later with no training and how the body changes to it . very informative.

Since they ran a picture of me last week, they're the new gods of the cycling print world wink

But yes, generally a week off and you'll start seeing decline.

It's just one of those things, most of us get a cold/flu one time or another (rare for me but....) and at the end of the day I'll just suffer a bit more, probably lots more and maybe set a time 30-40 secs off of where I could have been, it's only February and it doesn't pay the mortgage tongue out

I have stopped paying attention to the PMC chart as I think it's full of crap smile Besides, I have all the excuses I need to cycle more now.

Yeah don't pay too much attention to my PMC chart as the TSB never seems to work out for me but interesting comparing this year with this time last year, CTL is currently 34 higher and that's just before I head off to Majorca for 9 days!

It's funny as I had one coach tell me it is 'gospel' and another saying 'forget it' smile

It can be useful I guess but interpreting the numbers is such a personal thing. One individual can stand training into -45 and another (me) will really suffer at -20. I'm reading Cav's book at the moment and it is really interesting what he has said about his loathing of FTP tests, it's right to assume that if you can suffer sometimes things just happen, things that in training you just cant get motivated enough for.

Don't panic, it was likely broke when you opened the box. It's done you a favour by stopping g altogether, refund for something else is in order wink

Seriously though, what happened?

LBS said they had more Stages comebacks last year than Status Quo! Apparently the ones that hit the shops late last year were much better, but they were trying to sell me a PM at the time so no idea how true it is!!

I received my full report from my fitness test last week, including my polar chart - my right pedal stroke is so broken I thought that I would share it with you!!

Apparently I have perfect 50/50 power output, my left leg with peak power being generated around 107 degrees - the right leg alternates between 90 and 165 degrees on alternating strokes!! We found a few issues with the bike fitting which has been rectified, and I have a set of single leg drills to try to fix the issue. I can only think it is something to do with my back condition!

That's the third one i've heard of failing but more to the point all the numbers coming out of them with the local riders (i think) have been full of crap, more on the peak wattages than anything else. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

It's hard to see how the 165 degrees one produces any force. You must be world record holder for forceful foot wiping on a doormat.

Just trying to think about that pattern makes my head creak. I guess you could work on a Wattbike and try to train it out?
