Urgh; that's pretty depressing reading led here with my broken femur frown

Still x Ray on Tuesday and hopefully can start weight bearing again and get on the turbo.

Should be warrantied then? I think Paligap are the people that do it and generally they're pretty good I hear...

My G3 went out last month, same sort of numbers. It has never been great tbh. When you send your wheel back don't use the little wotsit packaging things, matey called me and got the right ass when he opened the box and spilled them on the floor biggrin

Cool - I'll keep that in mind..
Just out of interest, did you have to return the whole wheel, or just the hub? (mine was a custom build by wheelsmith so not a problem me dissembling it.. - but then a case of having to get it rebuilt!)

I would send the wheel. What you save in postage will be taken up rebuilding, unless you want to swap the rims or something else? Fingers crossed it's something cheap for you, mine needed £200 chucked at it, not great but i did buy second hand.

Send the whole wheel in, they'll rebuild it if it needs a fresh hub.

If it's a G3 then they'll just swap the internals though.

Managed to do a hard 20mins last night as an FTP test at 315w, over 40w up on this time last year, and almost at last years peak, so pretty chuffed with that.

Good work! Quite an increase, one of the good things is getting a powermeter early to track improvement. I don't think I got one early enough and my first 20 min effort with power was when I was well on my way to 2nd cat, so hard to know where I came from annoyingly. But I know I was total st at first at least with or without a powermeter haha.

Thanks, I was kind of expecting a good start to the year with not running and swimming anymore, expect the next 10w or so will take a lot longer to build. Haha, all have to start somewhere! I know I'd struggle to train as I do now without one, just being able to quantify every ride exactly is priceless in my eyes.

Did my first race today - a 4th Cat only at the York circuit. There were about 40 riders and the riding standard was generally OK - I was expecting a nightmare, but apart from a couple of riders who moved erratically and couldn't hold a line it was OK. A tight hairpin coupled with an immediate incline into a headwind strung out the pack every lap, but it gradually came back together. Quite a few riders were dropped early on and more throughout the race. I reckon the final pack was about 20, so nearly half dropped out / were spat out.

I managed to stay with the bunch until the final lap when I was spat out coming out of the hairpin. My own fault for sitting at the back. I should have made more effort to get near the front, which I did for a few laps but kept dropping back as riders came through.

There was a bit of cock up from the marshall when everyone sprinted for the line and the board showing 0 laps to go, but the marshall said 1 more lap. A lot of pissed off riders who had effectively 'placed high' but were then cooked for this extra lap. Still not sure what happened.

Anyway, pretty pleased for my first race and enjoyed the experience. I was realistic and just wanted to get round without incident and learn a bit about tactics. Average was 23.3 mph with a pretty stiff wind. I'll give it another go soon, but I'll always struggle at my weight (63kg), and should really look for some lumpy road races to make the most of my weight.

Don't panic, it was likely broke when you opened the box. It's done you a favour by stopping g altogether, refund for something else is in order wink

Seriously though, what happened?
Purchased Sept '14 had been working fine, but last week on one ride it started massively over reading (1000W up a 5 min climb) and calibration number was 4095 instead of 890. Changed the battery but no joy ...

Its gone back to Evans Cycles ... which reminds me I need to ring them to find out what's going on
Got a replacement Stages which is working again biggrin

Another race at cyclopark yday in the 4ths - was good fun, but got caught up behind (well..nearly taken out) by a guy on the first lap who ended up on the tarmac on on of the fastest parts of the course.. Had to get on the grass to avoid by which point the guys who were at the front had bolted! ( and I was in about 15th place at the time...)
Cue 2 laps of absolutely hammering it to try to get back on the front bunch to no avail.. Then formed a group with 2 other guys and we worked together - started to reel the front pack in, but it was too little too late (and almost got taken out by another dude who had a blowout at the hairpin!). Finished about 12th ish in the end I think..
If I can just have one race without incident then I should be able to actually get some points!

Me being one of them!smile I finished the 2nd to last lap about 5th but I'd emptied the tanks so pretty sure I ended up somewhere between 10th and 15th so outside the points. I didn't see any crashes thankfully ... was pretty nervy at times but all in all a good day. I'm not sure it was the Marshall's fault ... I'm pretty sure those of us that went early just didn't realise that there was another lap in the heat of the moment.

Yes at 63 kg's you'll fly in the rr's. I'm the opposite at 78.5kg's although will be doing some road racing but expecting to get destroyed out there biggrin

Hopefully see you there later in the season. :-)

Sounds like the wind is a major factor at Gravesend. A few friends did your race and got blown about too.

Board was showing a "1" as the pack approached the line so surely that signified the final lap? Approaching the line again the board was showing "0", i.e. no more laps, but the marshall instructed 1 more lap. Maybe "0" signifies last lap? Don't think so though - lots of guys who've raced before were utterly bemused!
