MTB Winter Lights?
Discussion
I'm a drummer too - I have a Legacy to cart it around, although I don't play often these days.
Installed the new lights last night - the lights are right out next to my brake levers, and possibly because they are partially leaning on them, or because I used the smallest of the o-rings, they haven't slipped at all.
Decided to fix the batteries to the handlebars too but I'm less satisfied with that arrangement. With my previous pair, the cables were a bit longer so I was able to put the batteries into the saddle bag. Can't do that with these. Well, not with the lights being so far out on my handlebars.
The spread of the light positioning and the new lenses have helped to give me a really wide "umbra" with the "penumbra" providing a very satisfying periphery spill.

My light has arrived and its very impressive, only downside is it rattles. The metal spacer inside isn't quite tight against internal light circuit board. Not sure on a fix given the heat it generates.
My done the same, but, it's threaded so just tighten it up. Just force your fingers against it and it'll turn.antspants said:

Don't be fooled by the fact that it isn't branded. It's the real deal (I've got two).
just ordered mine.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bike-Bicycle-HeadLight-C...

Might order another one for my helmet but I'll see how I go with just one to begin with.
Just looking at the sellers feedback and there are a few negatives - but thats only understandable I guess due to the numbers they are shifting (not spotted anything negative related the actual quality of the light though)
Would I be able to get away with just one for spot of night cycling on some easy offroad paths?
Just ordered - will need to be patient while waiting for delivery!
I was tempted by this from The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread 3800 Lumens but it's probably a bit much for commuting!
Cheers

Well I just ordered some off these as well:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bike-Bicycle-HeadLight-C...
Seeing as most on here seem to be rating them, ordered 2 from them
Also ordered one from this link:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1200-Lumen-Rechargeable-...
Which granted it is dearer (albeit you get a free rear light woohoo), however I think its worth paying the little extra just now as otherwise Im kind of stuck until the others arrive from China.

Thanks for the links, I've ordered a couple of the Chinese lights and the beam spreading lenses. I thought the £15 bar mounts were a bit steep though for what you get (almost same price as the lamp), I'm thinking I can maybe use a rubber lined stainless steel P clip to make a pretty sturdy mount for these lights.

Yes, one is enough - although if you've only got one then make sure it comes with a helmet/head mount, because off-road it's much better to have the light pointing where you're looking McFsC said:
Any suggestions for bright rear lights? I do most riding on roads and it's cars approaching to overtake me that I want to see me at the earliest oppurtunity.
One of these two:http://www.probikekit.com/uk/accessories/lights-se...

The only reason I haven't got one of these is because I don't think they'll grip my very skinny seatstays.
I've got a Knog Skink that sits on the seat tube: it's good but not especially waterproof.

Look decent lights, any rechargeable version/models?
I seem to eat through light batteries and one of the main reasons for me wanting to upgrade.
