Red 4 said: Try a Moon Shield (60 lumen). Shop around and you should find one for about £30. (Merlin cycles currently have them for £35).
P.S. If you don't like the extra wires/ battery pack/ weight of the Magicshine, etc. try a Moon X-Power 300 or 500. Very compact, lightweight and rechargeable. The output is excellent for such a small light and it's really all you need for riding on the road, if a bit pricey compared to the Chinese Magicshines. I've got the Moon XP300 + shield combo pack which I picked up from my LBS for 70 quid. To be honest, it's bright enough that there is no excuse for not seeing me, and having the rear light on does seem to have a positive effect on driver behaviour - i.e. being treated more like a vehicle and less like an obstacle.

Holy moly. 3xT6, 1xP7 and a MJ808?
What do you ride, a police helicopter?

What do you ride, a police helicopter? My guess is one of these...Oooooohlaaaaaaaaa A tall funnel rose, then an invisible ray of heat leapt from man to man and there was a bright glare, as each was instantly turned to fire. Every tree and bush became a mass of flames at the touch of this savage, unearthly Heat Ray.

Wow i didnt know there was pictures of me on the net! I found the MJ808 on the head was ok for riding on its own, then i added one to the bars (now sold) but (tim the toolman taylor suggested more power) so i got the mickey mouse light. then the price was so good for the "beast" i had to have it.
If your riding in deep dark muddy forest you can never have too much light.

Light does seem to disappear into the forest. That's the reason I've ordered a P7 to go with my T6, so I can have one on the bars and one on the head. But all that? Bonkers

Half the fun of off road riding at night is not being able to see quite as well as during daylight... (I run an old-ish lupine on the bars, and a joystick on my lid, and find them fine!)

Beware the magicshine batteries, I've had a couple die rather quickly although the light was fine. Got my last light from this chap- http://www.torchythebatteryboy.com/ and very impressed, like carrying a "warships searchlight" (to join the WOTW sub-thread :-)

Watchman said: Matt106 said: Watchman said: What's the battery life like? Seems like it could be worth a punt for that price! Longer than any of my rides. Longest I used them for was 3-and-a-bit hours. Never actually let them die on me yet so I couldn't say. Just kept one of these ON Full power for 3 hrs 40 minutes. The green light on the switch went red for the last 15 minutes or so before it switched off. I am VERY impressed, this light is incredibly bright!

[quote=Watchman]Magicshine for a little over 17 quid. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bike-Bicycle-HeadLight-C...Don't be fooled by the fact that it isn't branded. It's the real deal (I've got two). [quote] Just gone and bought one of these to give it a go Cheers for the link! Does a normal US style adaptor work with it? Or did you get an adaptor sent out with it?

I have now ordered 3 entirely separately from each other. One is still in the post, one came with an adapter and one didn't. Random eh? It's half the fun.
