Luckily these fknuggets are few and far between in society. Even so, you only need one idiot like this to ruin a lot of people's lives. Hopefully they'll lose the key to his filthy cell.

amazed he didn't give up the other two for a reduction in sentence.
he said he was too scared of the others to name them.
he was localish though so chances are they are too so i'l spot them sooner or later.

Good result, just a shame it translates into an actual 3.75 year sentence which will again be cut to reflect time on remand if applicable. Importantly though he was caught and justice prevailed.

Just a heads up to anyone in Norfolk/Cambridgeshire there's a gang operating out of a white Ford Transit that will mobhandedly pull you off your bike and throw it in the back of the van leaving you wherever you end up. The last time it happened was in my home village Terrington St Clement but they (or some people with a similar van and modus operandi) as far as Hunstanton, Fakenham, Downham Market and Wisbech.

This is not the same group who attacked me so be careful out there.

My own personal update despite giving the Police the address of the scrotes who tried it with me and descriptions of the people and vehicles involved (including make, model, colour and number plates) the Norfolk Police are doing a grand total of fk all about it. So I now carry a solid metal pump and wear my carbon knuckle duster motorcycle gloves whenever I cycle anywhere.
Hmmm. Sorry to bump the good news on the apprehension and sentencing of the OP's attacker, but I've just found this thread since the updates. Liquid Knight's tale reminded me of an 'encounter' I had between Radwinter and Ashdon, near Linton, just south of the Cambridge to Haverhill road a couple of years ago.

Two 'Phil Mitchell' looky-likeys in a luton type van with a roller door and some 'furniture delivery' slogan on the side passed me while I was out riding, then pulled over in a farmer's gateway ahead, and followed me for a while, before passing me again, but 'pacing' me about 50 yards ahead while indicating left. I whipped past them again, on a downhill stretch when they slowed almost to a stop, and then the narrow road/oncoming traffic kept them behind me for a while. They had long since raised my suspicions, so at the top of a hill, I pulled over (into a random driveway) and disappeared behind the homeowner's log store/garage. At this point the two scrotes in the van pulled in to the car parking area opposite. After waiting for a few minutes, they turned round and headed back in the direction they had come from.

I seriously wish I'd reported them now, as it sounds like I may have had a bit of a lucky escape. Was the pacing/slowing down thing an attempt at a 'hijack'? It was a long time ago, but I definitely recall feeling that something wasn't right about it, and made sure I kept back far enough to be able to kick hard if they did stop, and I was ready to pull a 'U' turn if needed.

At the time, I put it down to my own Paranoia, and talked myself out of taking my description of them to the local cop-shop.

I don;t think you're alone there - there's been many psychological studies which show that we tend to assume or hope someone else will report or deal with things that would otherwise require a fairly strong sense of civic duty to address.

We saw a dodgy looking van on an mtb night ride ride a few years back. It was not after bikes, but I and others had noticed it lurking in the village for several evenings. We reported it and never heard anything back but then saw in the news that police had successfully arrested poachers.

Keep 'em peeled. wink
