Well I was having a lovely ride out with my mate but one of the nipples on the rear wheel decided it didn't want to be part of the wheel any more and snapped with a fairly disconcerting twang whilst doing about 25mpg down a slight hill.

My mate at the LBS built them for me last year and as he was out with me when it happened he was quite keen for me to bring it back in for a rebuild!

Pic from last night's spin out, taken from near my house as I left (taken by someone else).

Being an MTBer I was keen when I saw this...

...was women talking about horses frown

One came out with 'one bit of advice for cyclists, get a bell'. Cow! (I do have a bell, so does the GF who was also there)

First proper ride of the year today. Worthing to Bramber along the river, just over 15 miles

Someone took some video of the chaingang earlier in the week. I'm on the bike with mudguards. Apologies about their choice of music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gr6ZA18ynEU

biggrin I timed my route on that Strava app which I am not sure is a healthy for one's confidence, despite happy with my pace. When I got home I see how slow (compared to others) I was on certain "segments". pah. I do it for leisure anyway.

I'm often on the downlink too, more often a little further north (West Grinstead-Henfield-Bramber section)

From yesterdays 30km up and down the green corridor here in Singapore, not always easily passable unfortunately and the last 2kms or so to the north coast is just bulldozed land and not evidently used by anyone (except me yesterday)

Saw a 2ft monitor lizard and ran over a snake, only small and didn't have a chance to avoid it. Riding in Paris wasn't this interesting smile But saw no monkeys on the old Bukit Timah railway station like the week before.

Know that trail well although I always seem to end up punctured. More often to be found cycling along the West Coast Park or a East Coast up by Changi. Did you do the big OCBC road race last weekend - I was out of the country sadly.

Out on Croydon Hill looking for spectator spots on the Somerset Stages next week. Needless to say they don't want to get it wrong down this section, with the huge drop on the right!

Little jaunt from Rugby to Bedford to meet the wife and in-laws. Single stop in Little Houghten for a 'nana and Jaffa cakes. Was consistently battered by a nasty headwind. Nice route though. Highlight going past Althorpe (lady Di's residence).
