Yes, it is Fowey. Weather was a bit mixed this morning. Drizzle and humid when I set off, quickly changed to warm with sunny spells. A lumpy ride, 870m of climbing over 48k. Cautious on some of the descents early on as the roads were damp and greasy.

Bigger screen today and it's a bit clearer. We're looking at the broken HANGER (not drop-out - I did wonder how that could be fixed previously). what confused me previously is that we're looking at the hanger from the wheel-side, and therefore the dérailleur is on the other side. I was looking for something which explained how the pin in the hanger was inserted - obviously it's a hex key bolt with the hex being on the other (not seen) side.

Got it..!! Thanks.
smile To be fair its not the best picture and the derailleur was basically hung up by the seat post, so I could free wheel it home when possible! Had to many long walks back recently!

Guy in the bike shop said he would fix it for cost of parts so its not all bad, he also called it the dropdown tongue out I just hope I get the bike back by the weekend, as with all the problems I have had recently its been hard to get into a rhythm with my riding.

On the very first ride on my new bike the hanger broke off. No reason but the shop said the two pieces showed marks of having been stressed recently. They replaced if FOC of course and I've never had another problem with it.

They are designed to be sacrificial though, to stop damage to your rear mech or the frame itself however if you've already had one replaced I would be concerned why it's failed again unless you know what caused it.

Slowly getting back into the swing of things, still having lots of pain though so not pushing it too hard at the moment

Managed a nice 37 mile ride today out to Dumbarton Castle and back. Was hoping to meet my son-in-law there (never happened) as he was preparing for tomorrows Commonwealth Baton Relay. He has to climb the rock with the baton...should be on BBC Scotland News at around 1:30pm & 6:30 Friday for anyone wishing to see it

As I'm visiting Cornwall this week I had a run over to Cardinham woods to check out the trails. They're rated as blue with a couple of red diversions. Unfortunately one of the reds was closed for maintenance but I didn't feel that I missed out on anything as the blue is really challenging. The one red I did do wasn't really much more difficult which shows how great the blue is rather than criticising the red. Great fun and if you're in the area well worth a visit.

I only took one pic which was a post ride recovery shot outside the picturesque cafe

Nice bike, we did Cardinham back in March and had a great day out. The blues are good fun and nice and flowing, the reds we did were OK and the whole place is definitely worth a visit as was good prep for our first visit to CYB in Wales.

The things you don't expect to see down a quiet Cornish lane.

A cockpit section from a Lightning.

Thanks. The blue does flow really well. There was a certain section where you literally didn't have to pedal, just hang on and enjoy the ride.

Bloke in St Cleer has a whole one in his garden and there is the one on the side of the A38 at Castle Motors. Seems that Cornwall is full of Lightnings.
