Bimble over to Combe on Friday with EddH, trackday was a bit pants, nothing that special there.... apart from the 1300cc GSXR engined Reliant Kitten....
Bike now resplendent with 50mm Chinese carbon clinchers from 2011cycling2011 from ebay. Feel nice, especially when cornering quickly on tight bends. They are 23mm wide and I'm running 23mm tyres which seem to be a bit too narrow but I'll change to wider tyres later in the year and see if it makes a difference.
If people want a comfy bike for long distances, pencil thin, bowed seat stays are the way forwards....
New wheels look great Maybe some Cervelo decals for the wheels? Bike now resplendent with 50mm Chinese carbon clinchers from 2011cycling2011 from ebay. I shall go for some chinese carbon clinchers for the next bike. I quite like the look of the FarSports wheels too.
Few pictures from my ride up Glen Finglas last week:
That begining:
First viewpoint after a steep start:
Another view point a little way along:
Starting to drop down to the resevoir to pick up the main track:
The main path follows along the resevoir then splits to go round the hill before meeting back up again:
Quick stop at the end of the Glen before the climbing begins:
After a hard climb a quick stop to look back............
I then turned the corner and found the hill I had just climb was hee haw compared to what was to come:
After much grunting, moaning, sweating (it was 27degrees) and nigh on in tears at one point (dehydration, no good. A load of water later and it was all good.) the top, and the highest point of the day was reached:
The view alone made the climb worth while, let alone the quick adrenaline filled decent to come:
and finally the end of the road before a quick (read that as slow agonising) ride back along the road to the carpark:

From yesterday, on the Minley MOD Training Area...
Home Farm, a 'model farm' built on the Minley Manor estate in 1900. Occupied by tenants including a small riding school and livery stable as late as 1989, the MOD ended the lease to take back possession for training use. Used for some time as an 'urban' training area, and as an admin base for field training, it also appeared in several TV series, including 'Ultimate Force' as a hostage rescue venue, and several crime dramas, mostly utilising the interiors of the old stables and the houses on site. It's since fallen into complete dereliction, was declared unsafe to use, and the front of the stable complex is now used to store portaloos. Completely surrounded by a high fence topped with barbed wire it is inaccessible to all but the determined urban explorer.

M3John and I decided to have a crack at London to Brighton to London on Sunday. That's our first 200km ride in the bag and I felt pretty strong afterwards. I'm new to cycling so have only just discovered the term Audax, which I think is the discipline for me. Are there any PHers doing this kind of thing?

Spot of lunch and then turn around and do it again

Went out for an early moring blast at Afan forest. Rode the 23km Y Wall then the 7km Blue Scar for a nice 30k jaunt..... totally gassed now.
Graveyard section of Y Wall pretty tricky today with slippery rocks and roots.
A tad wet and muddy.
Flowing blue to finish.

How did that happen?!
Probably just fatigued from over abuse. It is in fact a racer, designed for medium sized Dutch girls to ride to Uni and back. It had been used as a single speed by a powerfully built Scottish engineer to batter to work and back, inc a few gravel paths. Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
