The fleece-lined bib-tights, the ear warmers, and the waterproof, lined gloves were a bit unnecessary.

But at least I had my ultralight SatNav (and I only went wrong once!

Nice ride, some good hills up around the Chutes.

Part way up Hope Mountain nr Wrexham.

Ended up doing a short ride 28.7 miles but with some decent climbs, 2421 ft in total.

I had to go to London yesterday, had a few hours to kill, so for a change tried to navigate what I could of the Thames Path. Was an interesting bimble. I'm nursing a bit of an injury so this worked very well. Started out from easy free parking at Thames Barrier and turned round on Chelsea Bridge.

Couldn't resist a sunny 18°C opportunity this late in October, regardless of the wind. Ticked off another three '100 climbs' on a lumpy 97km route to and from Central London. http://www.strava.com/activities/212748490

Video from Sunday, bit long but might be of interest to those in the New Forest/East Dorset area.

Titsey Hill was a sod. "Oh, this isn't so bad" I thought. Initially. Toy's Hill was much easier than expected. I found York's Hill easier than I would have done earlier in the ride. I think I'd found my climbing legs by then.

What I'm coming to learn is that I'm OK up long climbs of <10% but less good at the short punchy ones of >13%. I don't yet have the power needed to be quick up the walls but hopefully that'll come with time. I'm still rebuilding the legs after 4 years of knee surgery and atrophy.

Cracking route though. Especially the gradual climb south from Dulwich.

First time in Coed Y Brenin today. Seemed to be an awful lot of climbing! The view is quite nice though.

Some of the descents were a bit technical! And wet...

Did the Dragons Back in the summer, great fun but my Wife still swears it was 97% climbing.

Welcome to Wales - hills and mountains are not a option but a necessity!

Yeah I can imagine it will take some time to recover fully from those injuries.

I don't think I've ridden Toy's Hill but Box Hill is on my 'to ride' list.

There's another killer hill heading North from Sevenoaks. I think you pass through Dunton Green but can't be sure without checking Strava.
Very lucky to live round here with all this beautiful scenery on more doorstep.

That sounds like Starhill or possibly Rowdow - did both on Sunday as well as Titsey and Toys Hill. There are some good climbs in that area, I'm yet to find a climb harder than Chalkpit Lane in Oxted.

Given the topography on your doorstep you may find Box Hill a bit underwhelming. It's pretty, but it's probably no more than 5% all the way up. Cracking cakes at the top though smile

Out at one of the local trail centres yesterday (Carron Valley near Falkirk). Rather than the usual trails I went off on a bit of an explore. I had been out a week or so back with the mate and we had rode along the bottom of Meikle Bin, but with limited light left we had to leave it. So with a day off and decent weather yesterday I went for an explore:

On the ride out along the side of the resevoir:

A view of the hill from the road up:

NEarly at the top, using the remains of an old plane that crashed on the hill back in the 50's as a bike stand:

The view from the top (starting point is at the far end of the resevoir below:

After a return back down I decided to make a quick trip around the trails, heres a view looking up the resevoir:

Final part of the day was a run down the Runway which is a fast runnign section with drop offs etc. unfortunately part way down a back spoke let go putting an end to things (atleast it was at the end of the day), albeit it looks like the rims knackered as well......ho hum.
