If you've not been yet, go to the Alps smile
I've only had one short little ride in the Alps and 500m is my highest climb so far but it was a similar experience. I'm relatively well suited to endurance but don't yet have the power for the properly steep stuff.

Ventoux is on the cards for 2015/16 so I may change my tune then.

Did a couple of weeks in Burgundy this year and plenty of 10 mile climbs at 5%, really nice once you settle into a rhythm. However, as soon as I hit a ramp of anything >8% I am bloody useless and my missus just disappears. Going to plan a trip to the Alps in 2015 after a training trip to the Canaries or something.

That's the thing though, most of the alps is under 8%. Bring enough water and gears and anybody can ride them.

WHat about the Pyrenees? Is it a similar story?

Other than the Col de Portet d'Aspet and the Col de Marie Blanc I thought the Pyrenees were pretty gentle when I went back in 2010.

If you want to do some proper climbing come to Peru! Not steep, just long and very high at the summit.

Going up a hill face;

Had a bit of fun messing about in the woods on our MTBs tonight:

Was going swimmingly, then a tree leapt out of the dark and bit me:

I took he muddy route home from work - stopped to take a photo as I had to climb over this fallen tree on the trail.

It was muddier in the woods than I expected today! by Lewis Craik, on Flickr

Early morning bimble along the Spen Valley Greenway. Nice spot to say it cuts across the bottom of Dewsbury & Bradford.

Replete with PH winter jersey too (cheers Gruffy)!

Not strictly today, but just back from holiday in North Wales. Took the lad to Antur Stiniog uplift / downhill.

Really enjoyed the day, with pretty variable weather, from dry and sunny, to gale force winds, clouds and heavy rain (but we'd dressed for North Wales in October half term).

The guys who run the centre were really friendly and helpful and we ha d a brilliant day.
