I got up to Sherwood Pines on Saturday morning with a friend, we did the blue trail and a bit of the red trail. I really enjoyed it, despite the mud:

This is the only other photo I took was my friend coming down the berms section on the blue, as I was able to pull out enough of a gap to stop and get my phone out:

I took a day's leave today and went out for a ride around the Lake District today (I'm lucky enough to live on the edge of the National Park), with the aim of doing my first 50-miler (ended up being 55 miles, so I'm happy with that). Took a few snaps on the way round (none with my bike in though, doh!)
About halfway up Whinlatter Pass, looking over Bassenthwaite Lake & back towards home:
Looking back towards Buttermere:

The road disappearing off up Honister Pass:
Looking back down towards Buttermere from part-way up Honister Pass:
The road disappearing round a corner and into the cloud towards the summit of Honister Pass:
Legs are certainly feeling the burn this evening, after 55 miles and 4,200 feet of climbs. Happy I made the distance though.

Sun was out, bike was good to go, wasn't that cold..... the roads however were covered in crap! Tractors have left mud all over the place, edges of the lanes filled with a slime of half rotten leaves and road grime and coupled with the low sun it was a bit a hairy at times. Still, probably the last good Sunday weather I'll get now till the new year.
Obligatory PH jersey selfie.

Little family ride this morning. Wife got cold though and wanted to prepare the house for some guests we were having this afternoon, so she sped off with our son leaving me with our 6yo daughter. Little thing is lovely and chatty even after 8 miles.
This is her bike sporting home-installed Sturmey Archer IHG and mudguards (she hates when her carefully-chosen clothes get dirty).

The Mighty Triban and I took the red-eye train from Liverpool St to Cambridge yesterday morning…
and then rode back to the Queen's gaff following the Stage 3 route of this year's Tour de France. It was lovely reading all the road scribbles and seeing the remnants of the Tour passing through.

For me, the first corner needed more thought. People had been waiting 40 - 50 mins in position for the start of the Womens elite race, then with 5 mins to go, a wall of photographers appeared in front of us. Would have been fine if they had shot from their knees, but they didn't. They should have been told to do so by the oganisers, or they should have put in bleachers for 1 of the 2 groups.
Then at the finish line, they put barriers across the track at the end of the media tent, with photographers infront of the barriers, blocking most peoples views. The barriers then had to be hastily removed when Katie and Sophie came through at higher speed than expected. So despite being there, I had to watch the final sprint online when I got home, and found out who had won via twitter, yet I was less than 25m from the finish line!
For that 1, I recon about 100 people never got to see the finish, all of whom had paid to be there. They should have been on the end of the straight using longer lenses, or spectators shouldn't have been where they were.
Sureal moments were nearly walking into Nikki Harris and Annie Simpson (quite literally!) and walking back to the team area after the race talking to Christine Vardaros. I was expecting team area to be restricted access, was infact quite the opposite!

Agreed, We thought we had a great spot for the finish only to have the view ruined at the last minute. On the plus side, Sanne Cant nearly puked right in front of me.For that 1, I recon about 100 people never got to see the finish, all of whom had paid to be there. Got a jersey and a CamelBak for my birthday, so had to go out and test them.
